your typical 1 ton XJ build thread

full droop before the straps. not loving that short track bar...

track bar: 29.5"
drag link: 34.25"

but the angles are pretty good at ride height!

flush power steering.. again
alignment
rear bilsteins

done for now... oh. also got me a spare H2. Fordyce is a go. I hope

made it to Fordyce on Friday night! well technically Saturday morning.. finally got the jeep to stop having DW at about 11pm and didn't get to the trail until 2:30am.
wheeled all the way in to WH1 to meet our buddies
got to WH4 by Saturday night and snapped a front bilstein shaft clean in half!
cruised back down and camped. then exited cisco and was home by 3:30 on sunday

jeep needs:
shorter limit straps
re-do axle side shock mounts on all 4 corners
oil change
4 link rear
steelies
cage
brake booster/ MC
hydro assist again

other than that, pretty damn close to where I want it. I'd say 1 more winter of building
unfortunately the only pic I have is the one of me catching a flat bed home

so you where still working on DW until 11pm? what was wrong now? BTW awesome pics glad to hear the rig is doing better now man.

I was up there for my buddy's bachelor party on the 19th and 20th. Committee was low enuf for Tom wayes and Jason scherer to ride dirt bikes across.

so that was a brand new shock. kinda lame. got my replacement in the mail from summit and installed it tonight

also the axle side shock mounts were complete garbage. so I cut down some new ruffstuff tabs and set them on some 3/16 plates

much better!

and heres a couple bonus pics of control arm angle and new steering angles

The axle shock mounts shouldnt be in that orientation bud. Probably why the end snapped off of the previous one. If the bolt was oriented front to back with the vehicle instead of side to side. The shock eye just pivots around the bolt instead of flexing into the bolt. The bushing can only flex so far and then it starts bending metal.

Like the factory setup.

I tried to put it like that but the shock bracket hung too close to the heim when mounted front to back. the shock broke because the coil spring popped out and I laid down the full weight of the rig on the shock alone. also now that I think about it they probably broke because they were mounted sideways like this lol. it's not ideal but it will work. I'm just trying to go wheeling gordo!
