your typical 1 ton XJ build thread

finished off the hydro assist. I must be doing something wrong because it kinda sucks :dunno:
power feels decent turning driver. passenger turns feel the same as stock almost

drilled out the high pressure fitting using the westtexasoffroad write up

found that I was missing something. so I went to rocklin hydraulic and picked up two JIC 6 male/male fittings. $2! easy peasy

never mind the funky angles on the hoses. I think they're a little too long. but there it is. no whining, bubbling over fluid or anything

also, not photographed but I did install a medium sized 2 row power steering cooler from autozone

took the jeep to the rubicon. new bilstein shocks were 1" more downtravel than the old ones.

soooo my coils would NOT stop popping out all over the trail

-bent deaver coil
-bent tie rod
-bent steering frame rail
-blown out motor mount
-bent H2

immediate revisions:
-histeer
-new pitman
-full exhaust
-rear bilsteins
-FRAME PLATES ON MY FRAME PLATES
-re-do track bar mount
-steering box brace
-HREW cage

hmmm. lots of work to be done

you bent the frame at the box?

you bent the frame at the box?

It's not bent. It just visibly bends back and forth when I turn left and right. Enough to give me death wobble again. It was temporarily "reinforced" for the trip though

Uniframes are ghey

I might be interested in taking the exhaust off your hands depending on how well the jeep passed smog. Lol I have no idea how good or crappy my exhaust is on my stocker and would prefer to have a backup plan if it doesn't pass first time around.

I bought my wife a zj and she gave me the go on a mild build so should hold me over for a little bit

Lol paid a grand for her down side lp 30 5.2 lt quadtrac but it is a fully loaded 98 with 170k

Any plans to add spacers to the hummer wheels? I have a set sitting in my room I plan to use. I have two buddys who added some spacers since their width was a little too narrow for them.

screw that. I love being this narrow! my diffs aren't easy targets, my 37's stuff without rubbing, scrub radius is phenomemal, street handling is tits, and I fit through all the spots my full width buddies can't. I wouldn't have it any other way

only issue I've found so far is the darn valve stems are exposed

That is the same thing I thought. Where I wheel in the south there are too many trees restricting how wide trails are and it is far too easy to lean a side into one so that is why i opted for the H2's. I foresee a cut valve stem in my future with them.

Yup. Already ripped one of mine off. Had to take off the wheel, have my buddy drive over and unseat the bead, then thank god we had a spare stem to put in. And a small compressor. The need for a spare tire is off the chart. But yeah afte wheeling through all the major trails in the area I've come to the conclusion that being narrow is much more advantageous than being full width. Unless you're running 42's or something crazy. But that's a different ball game

Tap the OE valve stem hole and plug it, then get a long L shaped stem and drill a new hole on the inside (guessing you have room but check of course first) and that way its flush with the face of the wheel.

ah yeah I'm totally gonna have to figure something like that out. good suggestion.

What's your measurement from outside of tire to outside of tire?
