your typical 1 ton XJ build thread

That death wobble was pretty scary to watch, awesome build though man, keep up the good work

yeah I was doing 65mph the first time it hit. but I felt it coming on so I checked all around me and prepared to pull over. then there it was

6th sense for death wobble FTW. thanks man. I know the weak points now. really can't wait to get the cage in it

FYI on that front arm/knuckle steering setup. I had to run a Waggy pitman arm to prevent wobble. The leverage was better and held it more rigid.

didn't have time to figure out which pitman was going to do me right. but now after this trip I know I need a better pitman for more throw. the two choices are WJ pitman or Waggy. Jon said I should just buy both and try them out. the only wobble I had on the way up was from the front tires though. they're not balanced and you could clearly see and feel them wiggling. but I was still able to do 80mph

Yeah the issue was deffinately your trackbar mount. It was wagging all over the place. Weld that inner lip and cross brace to the other frame rail and think your problems are solved.

Oh and locktite on your fasteners.

Glad you made it home ok jake. It was nice meeting you. Your rig is impressive. I hope I can keep up with you when I get my box together the way I want it.

Yeah thanks again for stopping by man I do appreciate it. I can't believe I forgot to put those bolts in. Anyone happen to know what size they are? (Inner track bar mount bolts)

It was awesome meeting you Gordo you're a hoot for sure. I hope your rig is up for the beatings you dish out. We'll definitely wheel again soon bud and by the time you catch up I hope to outrun you again :D party on brotha

thats awesome. Easier to run those 5" BS rims.

Was just going to ask what hubs you used. Have you seen the pro rock stub-hubs. Expensive but supposedly shaves almost 2.5" inches off standard hubs. I'll likely be going with yukons. Just thought I'd ask.

Only issue I had with them was to turn them you typically have to use pliers. They are not an easy to turn turn style.

i run a detroit in my front 60 with yukon drive slugs so i dont have to ever lock or unlock. turns on a dime & you wont break the drive slug like you will a locking hub.

I'm really enjoying having the front unlocked. and I gotta say I'm not too worried about breaking these on 37's. I haven't really heard about any reported failures. but I'm sure an exceptional case could be found in a google search

but mines a street driver. something tells me yours sees a trailer. if I was offroad only it would be slugs all the way

I had the choice of slugs or hubs. I choose those hubs. I raced a few races on them and wheeled without concerns for 2 yrs w them...
