To do before Johnson Valley

Does anyone else have a list of things to get done to the rig before the JV run?

Besides breaking my sector shaft on Fordyce, one of the ears on the box was cracked. This is the 3rd time I've broken an ear. So, I have a newly rebuilt box from Lee MFG with four bolt holes. I need to drill out and sleeve the frame for the 4th bolt hole, and get the new box installed. I also have a hydraulic cylinder coming, so the hydro assist needs to get installed. While I'm at it, I'm making a new tie rod and drag link.

For some reason my track bar frame mount is trying to tear loose from the frame again. More cracks, even across steel plate that was welded in the last time it came apart. While the steering box is out, it's getting fixed and even more reinforcement added. A new track bar brace is also going on.

If I don't run out of time, I'll change the lower front shock mounts so I can install the Racerunner shocks. And, I need to fix three broken bolts in one of my beadlock rims.

Oh, and I need a new ignition switch installed, since right now the Jeep won't even run!

See you in JV,

My list, though short, can take ALOT of time being a college student...
*Re-do left rear upper shock mount (put new screws and bolts in, came out somehow!)
*Install BigOffroad Light Harness
*Get the Zion Trail lining done (can anyone weld some 22 guage sheetmetal for me onto the floorboard, its only a 1'x6" section.)
Get the whole interior put back in.

1. New CB antaenna
2. Fix Water temp. gauge
3. Tcase skid
4. Remove AAL and install shackle
5. Fix Bumper mounts to make winch usable
6. Steering skid
7. SYE and new driveshaft
8. Rockrails

Anoyone want to help? :)

You might consider using silicon or pop rivets......I'd do that before welding. Oh, I just did!!! My floor was totally rusted out above the muffler.........

:D

Pop-rivets eh? That will make life alot easier, wasn't sure if welding or poprivets and some sealant were better(already got a pop-rivet gun). What guage sheetmetal did ya use if ya don't mind me asking, the 22 guage I picked up i "thought" would be good enough... Thanks.

I don't think it matters........I used a piece of thin plate, just what I had laying around.

Get beer.

The new improved coolerator is almost done. Doubled the heat transfer rate. Finishing the CO2 manifold. The ESB just came out of secondary...

I hope the West Coast crew is less dissapointing than the crew at Moab. :D

PS: Fair warning; Bud Light is a target for me, and I do have plenty of bottle rockets. :D

PSS: I might stick my passenger side mirror glass back on too.

A short list but do able:

1. Modify Rubicon Express track bar bracket brace and incorporate limiting strap / possibly weld track bar bracket to frame depending on mounting of track bar bracket brace

2. Install new tie rod.

3. Have a front end alignment

4. Install old fog lights as rock krawler lights using the OEM fog light switch

5. Make rear bump stops

6. Order and install front bump stops / weld on plates on upper bump stops

7. Purchase and install Novac Shifter

8. Purchase and install 2wd low kit in NP231 from TeraFlex AND replace both yolk seals

9. Install ‘97+ brake booster and proportioning valve upon arrival

10. Install new steering box, steering shaft and steering pump (at the same time as doing #9)

11. Re-install old drive shaft with new CV and Spicer U-joints (goto love Moab)

12. Purchase and install new CB antenna

13. Find CHECK ENGINE problem (doesn’t like new O2 sensor)

14. Install new Shocks (Bilstein 5150)

15. Purchase and install winch (9000lb winch)

16. Make a hydro-assist set up for the steering

17. Install passenger side doors (so I can destroy them again)

18. Cut excess material away from the LCA axle mounts

I'll be getting help from a friend on #1 and #18 :D

Maybe install an engine but that's not important.

Got your tow set up yet?
