Slick Rock 10/13

With people making it a day trip or camping at the river lets start the run from Lake Alpine at 11am. We can still use Chanel 16.
See you there.

Lake Alpine at 11am sounds great for trail run. I think the Jeep is all set, need to figure out my camping supplies. It has been over 3 years since i have camped, Sad but true. Ch 16 see you all there

This is going to be fun with different types of rigs going. I am leaving tomorrow, Friday, and will camp at Hermit Valley Campgrounds and meet a buddy on Saturday to run the trail with us.
See you at 11 on channel 16.

It was great to meet everyone and do Slick Rock again. We had quite an adventure and I will share it when I post the few shots we took. John took some too so hopefully he will post them.
Slick Rock is my favorite trail so far. I hear the Forest Service did their study so maybe Deer Valley will be open in the spring.

did you take a shot at the staircase?

did you take a shot at the staircase?

No I did not get a shot at stair case as I had some friends coming to camp with us and wanted to get back before dinner. When we got to Stair Case we had to wait for a group to go up then after they went up a jeep came down and said there was a large group that was up set because they had to wait for the first group. :flamemad:
So I went back with that group when there was a break in the line. :bawl:

Big trail clean up day by a wheeling club (forgot their name) so the trail was busy/crowded. Met John (twinhauler) at 11 and aired down waiting for Dave (DaveNJeep.)

Wheeled for a while and heard Dave on the CB.

So we waited for him

Dave and Mark showed up we stood around and talked for a while then took off to do the rest of the trail.

Heading back to camp the same way we came in. The trail was a little tougher this time than when we did it dure the Sierra Fest I thought.

The TJ in front of me had a hard time with this hill and ended up going over the round rock on my left for some reason yet to be determined. So someone from the group came up to me and said that for some reasons stock jeeps do better than the big build jeeps and that I would do fine. What me worry?

Babajeep did well and had no real issues making descent or ascent. I say that because after a while the group in front of us stopped and I as I went by them a lady turns to her group and says "How did they make it up here?" OK, OK, mostly stock on 31's does not make anyones knees weak but what was that about?

and after dinner and the sun went down we hear this lady screaming "help, help, help" so we get up to see what happened. :helpme:

We turn our flashlight on this lady in a bathrobe walking into the campgrounds and little disoriented. She tell us she flipped her car a 1/4 mile up the road. Charlie and I leave her with Lisa and the boys to take a look and sure enough a red Ford Focus is upside down in the middle of the road. A truck with hunters stopped and pushed the car so it was mostly out of the road and we tell them that the lady is OK and back at our camp. We go off and call 911.
Two wheeling trips to Slick Rock this year and two ladies in distress rescues. :laugh3:
