Rig readyness for Harlan

I'll bite, what's it doing?

well with 24lb injectors it was loading up real bad and killing itself... changed IAC and it ran great this morning with th 24 lb injectors

went to lunch and dragged it to moms to work in the shade... would barely fire barely made it from the street to the garage, tore into it, checked distributor everything looked normal but could barely keep it running and it still smelled rich. Switched to 19lb injectors and it ran better, would idle, but definantly could tell it was the IAC working hard to keep it running drove it around and it ran great as long as my foot was on the gas, second i would let it back to idle it would stumble and die. now it wont even fire at all and the tailpipe amells like fuel vapor, im gonna put some 93 octane it and see what it does but it still has an idle and running issue

running a factory refurbished head and a 94 intake on it if it makes a difference

well we hooked the scanner up and found the ecm was intermittent (no contact at times and when running it pulled bonkers sensor readings) it needs a proper tps adapter and a water pump and it may run.... i dont have the money and time tho at this point

Saw someone post somwhere that they had to replace motor mounts. Made me remember that I might need one. Looked uner the hood and remembered I needed a battery tie down. :looser: You can check battery tie down off the list. Neither I nor lennie had one in the 6 or 7 jeep between the two of us so I fabbed one up. Now on to said motor mounts after I look at some video of lions den. :gee:

After a solid 6 hours of working on the jeep got more off the list:
Install on board air system-----Done
double check timing chain...I think it's off and I'm too advanced-----Ping went away when the K&N came out
mount fire extinguishers------done
install front locker---Done
install 297 shafts---Done
2WD low kit----done
Measure for new rear shocks----done
Replace rear shocks----Done
install sliders----done

All that is left:
fresh Mobil 1 synthetic oil change
Double check transmission cooler lines

Found a new, old problem though. My Ping came back:banghead:
Pulled a few plugs they looked the right color but then I checked the gap, and much to my surprise they were all .044-.047 so just .010 over the correct gap!
The strange thing here is that the plugs were NGK V-Powers. They came pre-gapped but I checked them anyway before putting them in last summer and they were correct at .035.
They have only been in the jeep for about 8,000 miles though, and that's what is puzzling me. I've never seen plugs burn up so fast. The V-notch wasn't there anymore, just flat like a normal plug.
Anyway put six factory RC12LYC gapped correctly back in. Should be good enough for the crawl, I'll look in to possible issues after I get back.

Ok some of my booty fab...

I have to put the other mount in after work today. That is so going to suck with a 108 heat index.

Cooler lines checked, and were leaking, now they are not.
While I was underneath the jeep decided to let me know about a water leak by dropping anti freeze in my eye, that was fun, but now I think that problem is fixed with a new lower hose.
Still need to do an oil change but now I don't want to get back under it because I might find something else.

Alas, Old Blue lost the ability to stop. We do not know why. But, as we are both longing to have fellowship with our comrades, we endeavor to persevere. So without further ado, we will mount the TJ and attack whatever obstacle gets in the way (within reason) and meet our fellow jeep-a-holics on the mount. To all those who are transporting tools, be ready, I have returned!

Finally she is ready. Both fluid leaks were located and stopped, fresh oil and water, and everything else topped off. Guess it's time to starting packing all the crap on board. See ya'll there!

Floors are done and interior has been reinstalled. Made a run to town to test it out. I really like driving my XJ. Oil pressure looked good and the temps were were I wanted them.

Gotta pack up all the stuff. We are having to bring my wifes truck to haul all the raffle stuff, tables, tools, parts to the event.
