My 44/9" full width cherokee build

Nice and low... and wide

Lines are different because of the width, but it's definitely more stable
Warn Premiums (awesome) > Ford hubs

Dude!! Nice build...

just a few questions for ya tho..

Why didnt you go with over the top steering and why not just go with the radious arms that came with the entire drive train from the Ferd?

Dont get me wrong..That set up looks killer..but why stick with upper and lower control arms and not go with a longarm kit or agian with the radious arms..

JamesDuff sales a good set up or you could have built your own...

Just my thoughts n questions..

I plan on doing a D70 rear and chevy D44 front with a 205/203 combo..

I did go over the knuckle steering: I couldn't afford flat top knuckles and high steer arms along with another flatter pitman arm. That's just too much expense all at once.

You must have missed it: I am running a long arm setup, three link with a panhard. Doing an extended radius arm setup gives you low hanging brackets and a constantly changing caster with suspension travel.

Congratz on getting this done, it's more work than most people realize.

Thanks man, considering how clean your build is and how much help it was to me, that means a lot! :peace:

Thanks for the reply..Iam learning myself..So I ask a LOT of questions..

I ment flat top knuckles, owell...

I can also see how radious arms would do that..hmmm...That just helped me out alot..thanks..

Keep posting more info on it

Congrats on getting married and the new place aswell

bought some Alloy USA X-joints today.

So to fix my bushing issue I needed a 9/16" bore in a bushing the size of a stock upper, (the stock bushing sleeve is hardened so you can forget drilling that out)
so I had a 7/8 forester bit

a 1" O.D., 9/16" bore bushing sleeve

drilled out the bushing

petroleum jelly on the sleeve and pressed it in.

I'll cut it down on either side if needed
Hopefully it works

Not a good idea to use the jelly to press it in as now it will slide within the bush. Might not do it now but will once on the road. Better you have just used soapy water which sets a bit once dried out or nothing at all.

Thanks, I did not know that. I've always used that or bushing lube on shock bushings and things like this, it can't really move side to side, but I suppose I can press it out and clean it up then re-press it.

DUDE!!! Looks GREAT! I think that's the best looking fullwidth I've seen yet. and you certainly have no flex issues! you dropped that coil like it was going outta fashion!

I remember when brad put that f150 badge on there ha ha that was great anyway lets go do some 5 mile in like 2-3 weeks what ya say?

wait wait you know what i just thought? So who gets more flex on the front you or dan?

Flex isn't everything grasshoppa...
traction is :twak:.
Dan has no bumpstops in front yet. but I still have more ;)

Ya let's hit up 5mp in 2 weeks. I'm headed to Moab on thursday, so hopefully Brad will lend me his spooled 3rd and I'm looking for a lockright for the front... maybe yours will fit my front 44 better than your rear 44 :shhh: pm me.

Went to Moab over the weekend!
I had to add a steering stabilizer to help calm my poorly balanced tires for the trip.
I busted a couple motor mounts. Kinda limited what I could do because everytime I'd get on it the fan would rub on the shroud. Replaced one at the KOA before they yelled at us for working on it and I didn't get the other one replaced...

the worst one...

bummer..... I still like your rig though..... Good luck getting it fixed!

did you make some traction bars too? I thot I read something about them. I am building some meself and if you made some, share it with us as we would like to see what you did, if you need a new thread let us know lol
