Guess what!? 2007 is coming fast! Check this out please!

We have 5 rigs and 6 people total heading down. We're staying at the Best Western in Clovis (Friday and Saturday nights), and then making the short drive (30-45min?) to the meeting place.

We're looking forward to this! Cold is not a problem, no snow would be a bummer. Are they expecting snow in the next few days?

There will be snow on Thursday. It is not calling for snow this weekend, just a lot of cold. But who knows, we might get some good snow this weekend.:yelclap:

yeah Wether.com says snow on Thursday and the day of the run:
Saturday Jan 13 Sunny 32°/6°

That is a HIGH of 32°! :shiver:

Thats for Shaver Lake. Bald is 1000 ft higher = more frigid. I am the weather nazi.

Ben don't you have anything better to do than post up every 3 or so hours? No wonder this thing is 9 pages long and counting.

Anyways for those that need extra parking or are staying at my cabin ( I don't know who Scrappy has staying where) The cabin is located at the end of the road so there is more than enough parking for tow rigs and what not.

Directions: Take 168 towards Shaver. Turn right heading up on Ockeden Ranch Rd. This road is about 1 mile before Dinkey Creek Rd. or the town of Shaver. Take Ockenden Ranch Rd around past the tennis / basketball courts until it deadends into Windwood Ln. Ockenden will dead end about 50 yards past the dumpsters that are on the left hand side driving up. Take Windwood all the way up the hill until it deadends near Cedar Rd. The cabin is last one on Windwood on the right hand side. If you need to park your junk pull it all the way up into the deadend as far as possible and leave the intersection clear, people use this area to turn around.

I pulled up Shaver in mapquest and zoomed into Ockenden. Just a heads up according to the map Windwood curves back around into Silverpine. This is not so, they are both deadends.

Scrappy - if you can shoot me a PM with the address to the cabin you rented I would appreciate it.

Wow, I can't make the trail ride as my xj is a stocker right now but I am going to be right next to you guys at Shaver. My family and friends rented one of the cabins at Shaver to take the kids to play at one of the sno parks this weekend. Maybe I'll see one or more of you.

Here is a link that is kinda cool. It is all the links to web cams in the Sierras

http://www.sierravisionsstock.com/cams.html

On the top of that list is Sierra Fire Cams. Web cams on the old fire towers. Click that and you will see a link for the camera on Bald Mt. :patriot:

On a side note, if you see a family in a white xj waving at you that would be us. Please wave back. lol:laugh:

Anybody have some tow hooks? Mine got backordered, and won't be here in time.

Did you try the local hardware store? I have seen tow hooks at OSH for around $20

Is this for the front or back?

For the front it helps if you have the extra suports like this:

that is what I attached the hooks to in this shot:

Sorry I am not much help as I don't have any hooks for ya, try Home Dopot, OSH, a local hardware store or any trailer yard.

I'm going to try the pick n pull first for some stock ones, then the hardware store...

Make sure you get the crome one like in that shot, the girls LOVE that bling! :confused1

Anyone else here have some stock hooks?

I think pretty much any junk yard has rear receiver hitches. Some have front as well. It's a lot longer to install, but it's a solution.

Another solution would be to click here

http://www.4wheelparts.com/4wp/prod...=PRO&prodline=464&catName=General Accessories

Look up "Pair of 2 Black Tow Hooks" for 9.95, then click store locator. These hooks wan't be very strong, but it would save you for the snow run.

Anybody disagree ?

As for me, I went with receiver hitches. Ended up buying a new front one for 130 or so.

Thanks Slonopotam!
Thats just what I was looking for !!!
I'll fab up some reinforcement plates tonight.
