For those who may not know. Way back in 2008 we held our very 1st holiday toy drive.
Hard to believe this will be our 17th year holding this event. In 2019 I handed control of this run to Twinhauler, who has done a great job. Apparently the turnout the last couple years for the Hollister run has been less than stellar causing the BOD to direct their efforts to continue the run elsewhere.
The first event was inspired by a tragic and somber anniversary. Some years earlier I had witnessed an 8 year old boy get run down and ultimately killed by a drunk driver. The driver was caught and convicted but the young boy lost his life. Truly tragic.
For some reason when I saw that the Hollister event wasn't happening it bothered me. I'm not mad at those who made the decision to cancel the event as it probably was for the best. I had planned on attending this run, and even invited a few friends to come along. So I figured I would go anyway and possibly take over for John this year. I'll be sure to donate any toys I happen to receive to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots toy drive.
I'll be at the main obstacle course area from 10 to 11 hanging out and chatting. Stop by if you're in the area. Look for my black JKU here:
