Weekend is over...what did you get done?

nothin much, just got some of the "year old" stuff crossed off my jeep list.

finally made a bracket so i can use the spare tire hold down i made at the polyurethane place,

configured a simple mounting system for my two jerry cans,

installed driving lights on bumper,

and last but not least, installed 6 lights up on the rack.

the lights were given to me 3 or 4 years ago and have been sitting in a box, they guy also gave me a cd player but no idea where that went. not even sure if the wires were there with it.

anyhoo, here's some photos.

the bracket for the tire is moveable as well as slotted so i can move it front to back and side to side.

Soooooooo? What did you have done?

6.0 swap, one tons and stickys. as well as full exo cage and message chair integrated into a stock xj seat...oh and an all you can eat buffet stocked in the back with all the spare parts/tools to fix any jeep any where any time.

tell you what tyler can do it all!

i kid i kid

he built a steering setup and trac bar as well as drilled and taped my box for assist.

ill get some good detailed pics of it. he has built several but those guys like to hide there pics from the outside population (dan, etc.) :)

Fixed a short that had my #3 injector grounded out... check your wiring harness at the rear of the fuel rail and if it is touching or close wire tie it up away from the fuel rail, it will save you a headache later.

So what keeps someone from just reaching under the rack, pulling that pin, and just carrying the whole shebang off with them???

Haha, David, when you are ready for that list of mods you let me know and I'll make it happen for you!

so i found a local CDL job that looks like it will pay pretty good! i'm gonna be driving a pepsi truck! i'm sure it will be a lot of work, loading and unloading my own stuff, but i'll get to come home every night, and i'll be off every weekend! also, i'm buying my grand waggy back on saturday! i can't wait to have it back, even though it's going to kill me on gas, lol. i think i'm one of the very few people in this country right now trying to sell a honda civic for money to buy a full size jeep. I'm gonna try to get some kinda cheap motorcycle to save gas with.... i already have one in mind, but i gotta get some cash gathered up....

I finally got all the plastics reinstalled after removing them back in December to Raptor line the interior. Also installed a new headliner and rear sound bar. The interior is almost complete. I still need a head rest and harness bar for the rear, figure out somewhere to mount the onboard air tank, and figure out how to mount the rear cargo light now that I have a sound bar.

I stopped by the Maaco in Matthews earlier this week. All I can say is wow. Completely different quote and personality from the Maaco in Charlotte. One of the guys that works there has a Xterra painted the same color I'm getting next week. I finally found a door to replace my caved in door. Cost $100, but it's the only one I've been able to find that was all manual and minor body damage. I'll be swapping hoods, pulling sliders and swapping the door this weekend in preperation to get painted next week.

Met up with Nick and his bossman today on my lunch break as they were passing through town. Threw another $60 in gas into the Jeep as well...which is getting annoying to be quite honest..

ordered a pile of heims and related goodies for sam's jeep..... ordering wheels tomorrow.... this thing should be ready for a shakedown come late may!

How was the headliner? I really need to do mine but have been dreading it like crazy!

That looks great!! I've got the same cargo rack. Do you have any more pictures of how you mounted it? I've been struggling with the mounting of it because I want to be able to take it in and out. I like what you've done.
Here's a writeup I did for the rack installation.

It was a true pain. I spent a couple trips to the junkyards looking for the right donor. Then it took multiple trips to fabric shops to find enough material. Then the first time we glued the material to the board, I didn't use enough glue and the material fell right off. My main recommendation is buy two cans of the super/extra/industrial/mega strength glue.

The noise is way down after driving around for a year without one. Also the temps in the XJ are much milder.

Finding the fabric was the hardest part. I finely found it at Hancock for like 7 bucks a yard. It was called Doe Skin or something.

I used 3m spray adhesive. It's like 18 bucks a can. It just started to sag a lil bit again for the first time in 4 years. I can't expect the glue to hold when the doors are NEVER on and it sits out in the weather all the time.

So what keeps someone from just reaching under the rack, pulling that pin, and just carrying the whole shebang off with them???:

there is a nut on top tightened down pulling the pin into the bracket.

He-Man couldn't get it off. i'm sure if you could manage to get up in there with the right size wrench or a crescent big enough to loosen the nut, then you've got a free tire.

its a little tight in there though.

Finding the right weight fabric is key. I used two cans of 3M 77. Probably spent an hour in the fabric store to pick out just the right stuff. The job went pretty well in my opinion. Did my uncles as well, he got headliner material (with the cushion foam) and it didn't adhere as well. To me, the key is finding the lightest fabric you can that the glue won't soak through.
