I forgot how much Renix confuses/annoys me.
I bought a 1988 Comanche. Long bed metric ton, 4.0L, Pukegoat trans, 231, d30/d44. Its SOA rear and Rough Country long arm front. Pictures will come later. There is a lot of little stuff to fix or make the way I want it, but the drivetrain seems solid and it rides great. Heck, its the first Jeep I have purchased that drove itself home! Pictures will come tomorrow, I didn't stop today to take any.
So I'm chasing a high idle. Yesterday when I drove home from Concord it was just a high idle. Today I lost power momentarily and backfired from the exhaust while decelerating in gear, "engine braking". I've looked over vacuum lines once, need to recheck everything. The grounds were a bit screwy, the dipstick grounds were routed to the valve cover, so I fixed that. The battery ground goes to the A/C delete bracket.
I tested my TPS. It comes out to almost 17%, within .03 volts when I first tested it. I don't seem to have good sensor ground though, I have 5 ohms at the TPS, and I get the same 5 ohms even in the C101 connector. Fumbled around a lot more with the wiring, cleaned the IAC but ended up destroying the O-ring in the process, that will be replaced tomorrow, threw it all back together and still had the same high idle when I ran up to the shop to do an alignment.
I've been doing a lot of reading and have a list of things to do including replacing stock crimps, braided ground, check intake manifold bolts, replace that IAC, maybe do a temporary ground splice on the TPS, anything else I can find written by cruiser in the first place. Welcome to owning a Renix?!?
