Amanda and I decided to take my new JK down to Ouray today so that I could do some snowshoeing and so that we could check out the mountains this winter.

Our first stop just above Ouray

A few miles before reaching Red Mountain Pass, we pulled off the highway at CR 31 so I could do some snowshoeing.

The weather and the scenery were great.

Beautiful, looks like fun!

I've never tried snowshoeing. Really enjoyed xcountry skiing, but snowshoeing looks fun. On the other hand, ever tried snowmobiling? There are some great trails around Mancos, even some for snowshoeing and xcountry skiing.

Yep, been snowmobiling a few times. I actually had saved some money up to buy a snowmobile this winter....but ended up using that money to get the JK instead. Maybe next winter..

The thought of you on a snowmobile scares me just a little bit. That is one hobby you do not in any way, shape or form want to do by yourself. I hope you have a couple buddies who have them too.

We always went as a family, 3 bros and dad. My dad would spend a lot of time fixing them and getting us unstuck. Then when we got to the teens we could fix em and get em unstuck ourselves. Good times man. The best part is getting in the back country this time of year when you couldn't get a 4wheel drive back there. Then on hard pack you could go 90+ mph.
