Like the title says, they don't work.
We've visibly inspected and checked continuity on the wires which pass through the door jambs - from the switchplugs to the plugs behind the kickpanels -all good. There are no wires running beneath the carpet from the kickpanel plugs (left to right) - they run up across the dash, and we checked continuity of the ones which appear to run from the left to the right (cuz not all do) - all good. We've tried 3 different door switches on both the drivers (left) and passenger (right) sides with the same result - the passenger door switch relays clicking. It seemed that manipulating the plugs on/off the switches (passenger side only) triggered some intermittent action - buzzing of the relays and occasional activation. We thought maybe it was the wires inside the passenger door, and reaching inside and bending/twisting them sometimes elicited the same reaction; so we stripped off all the tape and coverings to expose them - but Nothing; not even insulation cracks. Again, they all check out for continuity from the switchplugs to the kickpanel plugs. We ran direct power to the leads which feed the individual actuators straight from the battery, and just as before they stopped working altogether, All 5 actuators work to both lock And unlock everything - so its Not a shorted/failed actuator somewhere. We checked All the fuses and relays in the blocks which have anything to do with the power locks, according to multiple internet sites, and they are also, All good.
We really don't get it after all this........ Could the original as well as multiple replacement switches ALL be bad ? In our minds, if the relays in the passenger door switch (module, PDM) are firing, they should be passing full load power out to the actuators. Or is that wrong ? Is there something else in the PDM which has to work to send the power through ? Are the replacement PDMs so poorly made nowadays that several in a row could all be bad ? Anyone there a high-level troubleshooter who knows other things to try, or someone who went through all this already and learned the secret ?
