Rubicon Trail - June 26 - 30, 2010

Dont worry Ted, your old jeeps 30 will make it!

As of this posting this will be my farewell to CA tour. Interested parties, you already have my #.

What is the wagbag status?

Jumper cables and rod, and a dark lens, is all you need. We've fixed tons of stuff on the trail with that setup. Use a vice-grip to hold the rod and attach the cable to the vice-grip. 6011 rod is your friend in that situation.

All the online writeups I have seen have dictated a DCEN setup. Any reason for not running DCEP to get max penetration from the ghetto battery setup?

Never did it DCEN, always DCEP....electrode positive. DCEN puts more heat into the electrode, and it's already bad enough with no heat adjustment, and in the non-ideal situations you'd be welding in you want penetration.

BTW, we all must be building better junk. In the earlier days it seems like I welded on someone's rig every trip we did. Lately, I haven't welded on anything at all.

That sucks! Do your best if you can. if not, ill take lots of pics. :P

What do you need done?

Install Aussie D30 axle seal
Finish Tie in for rear bumper
Install Tak Skid
I know there is more but thats from memory.

Then assuming i get paid before we go...

That does sound like a lot to do. all i need is to install my tube seals and Drop pitman arm. Aside from that, i just need to gather my camping gear, change the oil and check the fluids.

I'm starting to get confused. It seems we are having some drops and additions to this trip and now I'm not sure who is coming and who was supposed to bring certain things. Do we no longer have a fire wood guy? Do we have any type of trail welding capabilities right now? Lets start a new list of for SURE people.

1. Brad (bhicks) and co-pilot (Frank)
2. Vince
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.

Some people will always have to drop out thats why I try and carry all my own gear, food, fire wood etc. that way even if you end up splitting up on the trail there is little or no impact and you can continue.....SANTA
