Anyone going down to Johnson Valley this year for Goatmans Rockin' XJ Jamboree?

I can't make Moab and with the USMC looking at the land for more room for it to expand the bace, this run for me is a must go.

Who is heading down from the Sierra Chapter?

More info:
Dates for this annual event out in Johnson Valley will be Nov 22-23. As usual, trails will be from mild to wild. So, set the date aside and get those rigs ready. This run is always a blast, and the last few years we've had around 70 rigs, so it's a great time to meet and hang with friends and run some fun trails.

We have a new twist for the raffle this year, which I think you all will really like, so stay tuned. You won't want to miss it. :D

wow, that thread got seriously thrashed! I'll try to make it if I've got the cash then... it'd be nice to have a new rear axle and re-gear by then too...

If you have NEVER been to JV it is a must go!

There is Lots of trails, form the simple nice drives to the really crazy stuff, we had over 70 rigs 2 years ago with lots of people helping out on leading every type of trail run.

A great time to go if you have never been, there should be sign ups on friday night for every level of trail run and one that will fit your skill/jeep level of driving.

It would be great to have a bunch of the Sierra Chapter down there, so please try your best at just showing up!

Looks awesome. Like I said, it depends on the money... I'm just a college student, so money's tight.

really? for you? from CO that's not bad...

6.5 hour drive.... Hmmmm......
:dunno:
It is even longer for some, then you have the drive out to the lake bed.

Yes it is a very LONG DRIVE!

If a 6-7 hour drive will keep you away from one of the best places in the world to wheel, then you really should just stay home. Johnson Valley, Calico, Stoddard Valley, Pannimint Valley, Death Valley and Ridgecrest are areas you should just cross off your list, even if they are all great places to wheel.

For the ones that don't mind the drive you could leave on Friday Morning and stay around a few days after the weekend.

Now how far is Moab?

The AZ guys make it every year, I think it is about 11 hours for them:

How far do the CO. people drive to get to JV?

More then worth the drive for me, just hope I get to see stuff like this:

Sorry, thats from home in the bay area which is where I will be during that time.

6.5 hours is far from a long drive, I will agree. But that would mean getting home on Friday at midnight, packing, and driving out. We shall see.

Dave, your not helping matters any.... :smootch: I would think you would try your hardest to not make me come. :gag:

I would so be down for this most excellent adventure, but I would have to blow off my families plans for my birthday on the 22nd. I think I'll start workin' them now.......:shhh:

do I smell birthday party? hahaha

My wife asks me what I want for my birthday and I say "I want to go wheeling!!!" I have spent a few Birthdays on the Rubicon, once with this here NAXJA Group! Or bring the Family, everyone is welcome to come out for this weekend.

Just think you might get a chance to see Opie do the Turtle dance, I know it is only funny for the first 2 or 3 hours but still:

hey, does this thing cost anything other than gas, food and what you want to in raffle tickets?

Well it didn't take much "workin'" , I guess after 26 years of marriage, she knows what makes me tick, I quote "Have at it, you know it's what you like to do and I can't think of a better gift!" Sooooo, barring some unforseen breakage on the 2 runs I'm doing between now and then, I'll be there!!!

I DO smell birthday party! Right on!

I hope so, cause I'm 35's, 3.07 open/open... hopefully I can be 4.88 by then

I'll be there! :gee:

Am I OK with 35's and 3.55:1 open/open?

We always have an easy run, sort of a semi-challenging sightseeing run, on Sat. The trails there, even the easy ones, require lockers front and rear. You could look for an empty seat on Fri and ride shotgun.
