Johnson Valley Nov 19-20

Did the temperature finally drop below 200 F?

I'm 0 - 3 on that last waterfall. I hate that thing, and I've been so close every time! Did Fishboy make it?

The weather couldn't have been better. I've actually been out there a few times this Summer & haven't had it to bad at all, course I avoid the daytime.

Fishboy got denied. Like Dave said, it's dug out at the bottom, + it has a deep undercut in the middle. It took a good bit of winch to get up.

I'm 1 for 5 on that waterfall.

Really looking forward to getting back on OL though, haven't run that in over a year.

well things are looking good for me making it. I'm gonna pick Scrappy up in Fresno and he's gonna help me with gas. I will need some more spare front shafts though, so if anyone sees some at a junkyard or for sale somewhere let me know (driver's drop Waggy shafts).

Dave, what are your plans for the front fender area? I'm still waiting to see one I really like so I can copy it :D

Dave, Paul,

How are the new tires working?

Give us a review!

It's still not done yet. Trying to decide on tying into the upper shock mount with a cross brace. Plus
tubes from the bottom of the a-pillar. Don't want to add any unnecessary weight.

Con:
Never had to balance an MT/R, the Crawlers need balanced.
Probably wouldn't last on road as they're pretty soft.
Pros:
Sidewalls show NO sign of abuse, I don't think I'll ever cut one.
They flex different/better than MT/R's. At 6.5 PSI they hold most of their height, but when you drive over a rock they fully conform to it.

There are 2 spots on Sledge that I always had to heat the MT/R's, the Crawlers didn't slip at all in either spot.
Then again, the MT/R's almost always got me up the waterfall on WB & they got me through the enterence to Backdoor in the rain, with the Crawlers I had to winch both, dry.

Just don't let him spot for you...................bad things can happen in JV.

:D :D :D

spotter?!

I'll just have him stand in front of me with a big mirror and I'll spot myself :laugh3:

Yep, that'll work.

Richard is delirious, dont listen to him. ANYONE :laugh3:

I for sure wont be spottin no one this year. I have no room to even think about it! This will be my 5th annual Turkey run? yet to show up with my own shit....

But this year dammit I am bringing a box or something to sleep in rather than a damn tent. I dont think it can handle those winds or snow again!

And I guess I will volenteer myself to do something productive. Like cook or something.

Don't forget a winch.

Don't forget a winch and I suggest some Warn axles.

I'll see what I can do to be there. This is one area that I've been itching to try.

Brett, if we can coordinate well enough, we can caravan down together. I'll go in front so that you can draft...

"draft" - as in I block the wind for you by driving in front. Not "draft" - as in beer. :moon:

I'm going to rig up an electro magnet to my bumper so I can hook onto the back of other vehicles and pop it in neutral.

Big Red should be coming off his latest timeout just in time for this run. I'm sure he's lurking, so someone ought to post directions from Sacramento to JV.

No problem, we're going to have a newby run. Let's see....out to the mine, then down Clawhammer, that should be enough for him.

Heard a rumor that the outgoing chapter Pres gets to unstack after the guys on 33's have been thru Sledge...

I can't belive I didn't see this comment until now.

That rumor is FALSE.

I'd call you names but I owe you too much

And Richard...

He has to get there, then stay fixed long enough to actually get on the trail, before he can unstack anything.

Oh, I guess I didn't think that he can ride with someone.

Just for that comment if I blow up my engine I'll try to ride with you!
