Any AR chambered 5.56 can shoot either .223 or 5.56, the ones chambered .223 can only shoot .223 ammunition.
Its actually not the diameter of the bullet that causes the problem. It has to do with the length of features on the loaded round. They are nearly identicle, just not...
I am in the market for a beginner ar-15, any recommendations?
My buddy told me I want something that shoots 5.56 and .223 but that is as far as I know besides some name brands. I am on a college kid budget but I am hooked on shooting the .223 now.
I am in wyoming now too so I can buy Pmags and all that fun stuff I couldnt when I lived in colorado.
I'm sure Chris can some up with some sort of conspiracy theory about how those barrels were put out specifically to hamper the Army's ability to conduct war, but considering they gave them to the National Guard it obviously failed.![]()
picked up a 12 ga for 199 at a pawn shop. the collection build up begins again.
Wait, aren't you the one that can't afford 4 new tires? lol.

I am the same way when it comes to buying guns. lol.
You Colorado cowboys rock! I'd love to have an excuse to have a set up like that. I'd just look like a poser out here.I finally picked up my Ruger Vaquero the other day in .357 Magnum/.38 Special. I'm very excited to shoot it. Now I just need to save up for my same caliber lever action to complete the set. Here it is with my trusty Winchester Model 94 30-30 Lever.

I'm far from a cowboy. If anything I look like a skin-head punk rocker. I did grow up around ranches in Montana before moving to the big city that is Denver. I wanted the lever action and the revolver because I think they're cool, not to dress up and pretend I'm Clint Eastwood or John Wayne in some classic western.
I just got the Vaquero so I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet unfortunately. I am very excited to though.
