I'm nto sure how long, my Enfield came from Century as well. They get the lions share of imports to be sure.
The 1918 date would be about the series, not production. Too nice a stamping for a production date, I haven't found a cross reference of that yet, search around a bit and you should be able to either find it or run across somebody that can look it up from your serial number.
According to that wiki listing the historical piece places them during the 20's and used for a period of time then after that alternative .22 trainer. Who knows where this thing sat for so long after that during another major war and two minor ones to end up in my granddads hands.
It looks pretty mechanically sound and taken care of minus the wood degradation. Not sure what I will do with it, not a big collector or old time pieces I do want to go out and put a .22 round through it in the open space by my house.
