Cage construction

wow really great write up that you have going on here I love how it came out and it has givin me alot of idea of what im going to do now that im ready to make mine a jungle gym heh.....

few questions for you, roughly how many feet of tubing did you use to do this rig? and what kind of percautions did you take when you took most the floor out( if any ) to make sure nothing got tweaked such as the unibody, and lastly I noticed you are using a lincoln welder are you even using gas to make these welds?

Build a buggy... Check...

go hardcore wheeling... Big Bear? :moon:

Its only been out for one trip, albeit a two week long trip, so it has its shake down run in. There are things that need to be done before Goatfest and it would have been nice to go out to JV, but it didn't work out.
Next time....

although I still have not built a buggy yet.....

I bought 400' of tube and I have not counted what was left....:dunno:

No floor removal, and the cage should support the body from too much tweaking, although these things tend to start cracking no matter what you do....

Datz what da lug nuts screws on toooo.

Oh I thought it looked like a stud, but I saw "noise in the rear end" and was trying to figure out where a bolt like that would go IN an axle.

Hmm, I just wrote "stud" and "rear end" in one sentence. No fixing please. :D

Just poking fun at you Matty!

As long as we have you leading the trail, I'll be able to find a way to
get my Jeep through...

Rick, I don't have 14 years to read through the build. What tubing did you use?

OD: 1.5", 1.75", 2" ?
Wall: .09", .12" ?
Material: HREW, DOM?

Thanks you sand lizard desert creature.

p.s. Actually I did read through the thread and it only took me 2 hours, but I didn't see what you used for tubing other than you bought 400'

Marshal, it was all 1.5" .120 mild steel.

I noticed that you said a page or so back that the brakes did not work on your trailer... I am a trailer mech and if you dont take your trailer somewhere and am not familiar with trailers I could walk you through it. Love the build btw
