Yet another... Build thread for an xj on 40s and one tons in norcal

Didnt get it on the street yet. Actually seems a hair slower in the garage , probably barely noticable, which is good . Still 1 finger to turn the 40s which is awesome. I had to bleed it since I did the new box and lines.

Throwback thursday.
14 years ago in my old scout 800. Found these from a PC trip.

Maybe 12-13 years ago my old 79 scout 2 on slickrock

Yeah I was like 19 maybe. It was fun to wheel. Welded front and hydro assist. 35s . Super tall. Crappy front DS angle. Cage that was iffy. Fun as hell to wheel scary on the freeway

How does the steering feel after doing that?

Drove it tonight. Steering seems faster. Wish it was slower. I want the steering to slow down.

The 800 was twin stick with granny low ,3.73s, powerloks front and rear , 30s , big 3.2l 4 cyl.

And a 2.5" lift.

Yeah they litterally chopped the big v8s in half to make a slanted 4cyl. Scouts are pretty neat. They had a smaller 4 cyl option too, the straight 6 and a few differwnt v8s ranging from 289 to 396 cu in

Win the lottery first and then do it. Ha

I doubt you could break a stock 14 bolt shaft with the 4.0L, big block bouncer build is about the only time I could see dropping that kind of coin for 40 spline shafts.

yeah I aint going to do it, just fun to look at . Window Shopping.

Installed the smaller psc pump. Now my belt is way too long. Also amost finished the traction bar. Still have work to do on it

Took a hard hit on a loose ball and cracked my shoulder backwards
at basketball tonight . It will push my daily wrenching back but I think i can drink through it.

haha damn dude you're getting old! :D

heads up for the part numbers on belts they have the length in them... Say the part number for stock XJ is 880K6.. the 880 will be the length. If you know roughly what you lost with the new pulley you could shoot for like a 865K. Make sense? Autozone has a belt measuring tool in the back. Just ask them if you can go measure it. and buy 2-3 of around the size you might need then return the others you dont use.
