Who's going to the 25th Anniversary Event?

Due to time conflicts I get one time away per year to off-road, Moab 2008 will be this years.

I've gone to Moab 3x. 1st time for the 20th annivesary left on Sunday and drove I-80 to Wells, NV then to Slick Rock the next day. Don't forget you lose and hour crossing from NV into UT. Left Slick rock on Sat morning at 0500 and was back in SF at 9PM that night. This was a bone stock 2000XJ.

2nd & 3rd time drove down I-5, through the desert & spending the 1st night in Vegas, arriving about 3PM the following day. Came home I-80 2nd time straight through, 3rd time stopping in Winnemuca. Drove twice, trailered once, prefer trailering.

I believe Jes has driven straight through on Hwy 50, saves time/distance over I-80. Going south through Vegas adds about 150 miles.

I've stayed at Slick rock, a motel and a condo. This year I am staying at the condo again as my wife, two daughters, son-in-law, granddaughter and Rightseatsis will be there. Rightseatsis and my 83yo father may come also, he is NOT and off roader, but having been a career welder enjoys looking at the fabs and mods. If we can get a trailer we are going to be towing the 88 jeep, Mary will tow her stock behind her motorhome and my daughter may drive my stock DD. We are leaving SF on Saturday the 4th arriving in Moab on Sunday evening, staying the week and pulling out for home Saturday the 11th.

As we get closer to the actual shove off date, attempting to put a caravan together makes sense.

We are either leaving on Friday the 3rd or Sunday the 5th and heading home on the 12th. We need somewhere to stay. Anybody looking for two room mates?

Mark

I plan on being there, staying in Porch Puppy's dog house at Slickrock. I'll be trailering my POS. Will either drive HWY50 and camp out in the desert somewhere or drive to Ridgecrest then follow Andy out via 15>70.

Hmmm, I dunno if you should drive it at night by yourself. Very desolate, critters on the road, and in Nevada there's only two places to get fuel between Fallon and Ely(and they may be closed at night). I was able to make it from Fernley to Ely on about 17 gallons several times though.
I do prefer 50 however, because of the scenery and remoteness of it.

Hmmm... by "by yourself" you mean one vehicle? That's a major bummer. I'd definitely be carrying gas if I'm going to cut it that close.
Thanks,
Billy

Ya, one vehicle. Cell coverage out there is "spotty" to say the least and I've driven for two hours and only passed one vehicle before.
Almost everytime I've driven it I was alone but I don't suggest doing that. ;)

If your driving from Sac to Moab you might want to go 80 to 15. Might be quicker then going south.

Im thinking about coming out, but I will not have a Jeep that will be going on any trails. Anyone have a seat open? Ill bring the beer....

If I bring my own rig I'll have a seat.

Me and Aaron (DSXJ) are leaving from San Jose on Saturday the 4th and planning on arriving in MOAB on the 5th. A carovan might be a good idea???

Bump!

Who else is going from Sierra?

Me and Liz, Billy and Sara, Shark Mark, Aaron, Jes, Tom and his family - almost a chapter by itself!, Matt?

If your referring to me, I have no idea. Not sure if I can miss that much school, so I will have to figure it out next semester.

I'll be there. :D
