Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Good luck. That's going to be a tough find. I have one but you can't have it. lol It's going in mine later this week.

If you want, I can compare the difference and you can get an auto shaft retubed.

Also, seems like you could use a shaft from a V8 ZJ. I'd have to check on that.

Yes please....

I have one....

If i give you mine i need a good auto front ds in return...

I can do that. I'll see what I can find. I don't think I have a spare for the green xj yet.

Finally got off the road after 3 weeks away and started working on my Jeeps. The A/C drain in my ZJ backed up and soaked my passenger side carpet so I blew it out and pulled my passenger seat out and folded up the carpet. I parked it in the sun in the cul-de-sac in front of my house this morning, so hopefully it will be dry by the afternoon.

In other news with the ZJ - I am less than 1000 miles from turning over 200,000 personal miles. Been waiting for this for quite some time.

With the XJ I started to prep for Brian's shackle relocation brackets. I pulled the tire carrier in anticipation that I might need to remove my rear bumper. The bumper brackets use the same holes that the relo brackets use. I got the shocks out, pulled the drive shaft, and stripped down the interior trim and rear carpet for floor access. I'm not in any hurry to get the job done, so I'll take my time and enjoy the process.

Lastly, I worked on the Cherokee Crawl registration form. Look for it to be published by week's end!

I picked up a new dirt toy, not exactly a jeep...

Got my engine block stripped and ready to take to the machine shop

Took more pics of the '73 to try and sell (see for sale forum) since it turned out to be a BIG mistake on trading my CJ5 for it. :(

And as requested more pics of the '74. Really wish I could get the wife to let me put the right grill in it.
BUT after swapping tag and insurance to the 73 and now to the 74 I drove it (74) to work today :) Gorgeous morning at 53*!! I actually had a CJ7 guy give me the wave...sissy had his top on LOL...I wonder if he even knew what it was?

It has the IH 345, T-18 4 spd (close ratio), D-20, D-30 front D-44 rear. Has some cancerous rust mostly in the rear quarters and the windshield frame plus the paint is ROUGH but overall it's a very solid rig. Sad thing is the '73 LOOKS better but that's where it ends.

I really want to use the $$ from selling 73 to put towards the 4 door MJ. But if it doesn't sell I will probably strip it down and put the better parts off of it onto the '74 and the get some better axles under it and have it caged...IH rock buggy (out of the 73).

Pics of the '74:

Got a lot of things accomplished this weekend...so far.

I ran some grade 8 bolts through the swing out tire carrier bracket as extra insurance. I also hollowed out the tire carrier bolt hole to fit a larger grade 8 bolt.

I tore into the project to install Brian's shackle relocation brackets. Like our esteemed former President, PacificEd, I too am a big believer in antiseize and the rear leaf springs came out with no issues at all.

Lastly I replaced the centering pins in both leaf packs with new grade 8 hardware and got ones with a larger head to accommodate the shims.

Oh, and my Crawl "to-do" list got one item longer. Not sure that these leaf spring bushings are any good anymore. Could explain the clunk I get every time I make a turn.

The spring bushings in sam's jeep look the same, but between all the other stuff i need to do they will probably stay that way until after the crawl

What machine shop are you using to do the engine work? I've got an engine to be done and think I'm going with a place in McMinnville, TN. I feel pretty good after talking to them the other day.

Well guys after 18 years and 265,000 miles of faithful hard service my little 4.0 is failing. Started knocking on Thrusday night and was diagnosed on Friday afternoon with either a cracked piston, broken skirt, or bad pin.

So, after years of saying I'm going Stroker motor when my engine kicks the bucket, the time has finally come to put my money where my mouth is. I know this will cost more than a reman or junkyard motor but I'm not trying to just throw money endlessly at this thing. I also want something reliable, I know a stroker won't go the distance that a reman will but I want something that will get me over 100,000 miles.

I do city and highway driving and do some towing. So I'm looking for suggestions for crate Strokers, currently leaning towards ATK/Mopar Performance, or if someone knows a good affordable engine builder in North Georgia preferably closer to Marietta, Ga please make a recommendation!

Tyler at rocksolidfab in chattanooga is an awesome engine builder. Im not sure his timeline would fit with yours right now he's booked pretty solid through july with work

I was recommended to a guy in Fayetteville, but he wasn't open on Saturday so I need to find some time off work to get it there.

Funny, my place (Precision Machine) isn't open on Saturday either.
