Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Hmm, so the ZJ strut pivot dohicky bolts on?

Drill a pilot hole and in theory it should be a self tapper. A couple opening/closings pulled it loose so I just used a nut and it is fine.

Why is it impossible to find any 38.5x14.5x16.5 TSL SX's? They are nationally back order 4-6 weeks and the only places I can find them is that my local shop has a supplier in Cali with 4 of them I can get in 10 business days for like $1700 something or I'm trying to get my local friend to sell me his and make him get 42's. I really don't want to pay $1700 for those and would rather buy 37" PBR's for cheaper new, or even 42's if they're close to that price. Stupid money.

My heat just went out.........

On what is supposed to be the coldest evening in a long time (low of 4* tonight).

Thank goodness for gas logs. They do a great job of keeping the house tolerable.

Ouch! Do you have a gas furnace or electric heat pump? I can't remember from when Dan and I were messing with it a couple years ago...

Oh ok. I was gonna bug you about them if you still had em

I got rid of those and my axles around thanksgiving. I wish they made them in something bigger than a 37 that's not a 46 or 54 or I would run them again in a heartbeat.

If all goes as planned I should have it back on all 4's in about 3 weeks. I'll be sure to post pictures.

It's gas. We put in a new heat exchanger this fall and everything was working great. We think the ignitor has gone out. The guy is coming to look at it today.

Luckily we have gas logs and while the house was cooler last night, we stayed in the mid 608 range. We had them set on low though.

Finally finished my radiator and timing chain swap this week. Chain had a lot of stretch after 256,000 miles and the guide had cracked and came loose. Also the guide, I thought it was plastic because it was hard like plastic, until I got the new one and realized it is rubber. With all the crappy weather recently I haven't had time to get out there and fix it until this past weekend and week.

However now, with all the rain, my Jeep has had a leak that lets water pool in the driver floor board. I have an old Alpine flip-out that is 9 years old and has the separate brain that was mounted under the driver seat and it got wet. So now the brain got wet and the radio is dead. So the shopping begins for a replacement. I am currently considering the Pioneer AVH-7700BT for a new flip out with bluetooth and create syncing with my iPhone.

I have one of those in the jeep and in the RV. Bluetooth, USB, etc. No cd drive, so the chassis is short, it's only a couple inches deep so you don't have to worry about all that harness mess under the dash not fitting.

It's also one of the only ones I found that would cut in when the GPS does directions over the music you're listening to, if you're using the GPS on your phone.

And it's only $100.

Great, just spent more money. It should be here on Wednesday to replace my 8 year old Alpine.

I have that installed in my LJ currently. It will even cut in with Bluetooth if you are listening to another audio source. The microphone is pretty good. My mother is losing her hearing and can hear me at 55 MPH in a noisy Wrangler.

Apple support is very good since it relies on the iPod/iPhone to do some of the file work.

Note: It does not have a dimmer wire. To dim the unit the Return button has to be held down. I prefer this since I have my headlights on all the time.

You have any time to help swap a clutch? A local guy bought a 2 door 5 speed XJ and the clutch went out. I am trying to help him out and get the clutch swapped out on a saturday or sunday. I don't mind providing the space, but don't want to spend 2 days doing it in this cold!

Friday: Loaded the Jeep, drank some wine with the GF!
Saturday: Wheeled UROTC to help raise money for a young man in a wheel chair to convert his xj to hand controls and fix it up.
Sunday: Worked on flats for the art teacher at the boys HS!

Oh, on Friday I puked my guts out all day.

On Saturday I stripped down more of the 2 door. Sold some parts.

On Sunday I went to Wahalla to take my wife to a photo shoot. Got back home and mounted the 30" light bar I've had for 6 months to my bumper... in the rain. Maybe I'll wire it up within the next 6 months.

Friday I worked.
Saturday I worked.
Sunday I worked.

Planning on working on the Jeep all day tomorrow then take my axles to a friend to let him gear them since I just don't have the time with work and school. I'll pick them up Sunday and hopefully have them under the Jeep in two weeks. New wheels should be here late this week. I'm going to plug the stock valve stem hole and drill a new one closer to the WMS away from the outer lip, then I'll be ready for my badass new tires.
