Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Subaru Forester Bumper = Done.

One of those flew over my house just before the police and fire dept showed up to tell me I wasn't allowed to have bonfires.

I was a bit confused, as it was the smallest bonfire I'd ever had, probably the 20th one in the last year and a half, and all my neighbors have em all the time...

Ok So I finally got them done and put in today just need to put the rest of the grill on but here they are sitting in the headlight buckets.

Just the angel eyes

Low Beams

Here they are during the day with the Jeep parked at the opening of a garage.

I am having one bit of trouble with it though. With the headlights on, if I turn the high beams on they come on, but when I turn the high beams off and go back to low beams, the high beams stay on. The high beams won't go back off until I turn the headlights off completely. I got a completely new harness with this setup that is basically the same as an upgrade harness that alot of guys drop in to get more light out of stock headlights or drop in H4 conversion housings. My only guess is maybe I have a relay that is sticking. Anyone else have a better idea to what might be causing this? The projectors just have a little shield that moves inside of it to allow more light to escape for high beams so I know this doesn't have anything to do with the ballasts.

Double check your wiring on the relay. I'm not a electrical guy... But unless the shield is spring loaded wouldn't you need another pole on the relay to make the servo(assuming that's what moves the shield) move the opposite way? Idk maybe I'm talking out my rear end but there may be something with a dual beam projector on a wiring harness for halogens.

Yeah, I was just out in the driveway sweeping up my mess when the patrol car came cruising by. He stopped and motioned me out to the street. Said they were chasing/looking for a guy on foot that was one street over, gave me a description....not sure what he was up to, but it must have been somewhat serious since they had the bird up in the air. I told him I was armed and would be ok. He just smiled and nodded, and pulled off.

If you're gonna wheel it I strongly suggest a ruffstuff cover, the stock 8.8 cover is tinfoil, I smashed mine with a block of 4x4 pressure treated lumber trying to break it loose from the RTV.

Planning on ordering one when i get my tax rebate, im kinda short on funds at the moment ( i wont wheel hard till i get it).

On a completely unrelated note My GF's Camry SHat its transmission gasket and thats what i spent my one day off doing

They are in fact spring loaded and I played with them before putting them in and powered the shield servos to see how they worked and with power they moved and when the power was cut they sprung back. I did and identical retrofit on my cousin's 99 last week and I got to thinking about what was different between his 99 and my 97. It finally dawned on me that my 97 came with factory fog lights. The fog lights were designed to go off when the high beams were switched on and then came back on when the high beams were switched off. So I thought maybe somehow that connection between the fog light harness and the headlight harness was holding power to the high beam relay in the HID harness. I pulled the fog light relay from the factory junction block in the engine bay and voila! The high beams now function as they should! The fog lights were removed a long time ago when I added the 33s so I didn't need the fog light relay anymore but I would like to add some HID fogs back someday to when that time comes I think I am going to use the factory wiring but perform the mod to make it so the fogs stay on when the high beams and hopefully that will fix the problem between the two light harnesses and allow everything to function as they should but for now my low and high beams work as they should and I couldn't be happier!

Must be something in the air today in the Southeast. I was out on the floor working this morning and out of the corner of my eye I see a patrol car drive by, then I hear it race close, and all of a sudden, he's pulled INTO my warehouse. Cop gets out, asks if I've seen anybody unusual walk by today. Told him no but i'd keep an eye out and got him to show me a picture of the guy on his laptop in his car.

The city of Pineville where I work is a very small town, so when there's 2 patrol cars in the area all day, that leaves the rest of the town pretty much open for anybody to do anything lol.

In the Jeep at all times. Wheeling included!

Finally! received my JKS Discos a month ago and finally have them installed. 3 weeks on the road for work and a week back at the homestead for a funeral. its nice to spend a full night in my own house. just need an alignment and install the road tires and i just might pass inspection. whoot!

^, currently running 32's on a dana 35
i've done this for years. never once broke one, although i've been through several dana 30 shafts, a carrier, all the bearings, and a ring and pinion. ask anybody who has wheeled with me if i'm easy on it... but this has been covered in depth on here....

today i tried to warranty a stock tracbar at vato zone(which i bought several years ago and it's sposta be a lifetime warranty thing), and they told me it was a special order thing, and that it would be a week before they could get one
so i went to O'reilly(where i work now), and they had one on the shelf. it was annoying to have to pay for it, but at least we got it today, and got my buddy's wifemobile back on the road.
it's no big deal that we had to pay for it, because i've warranteed the thing for several different jeeps over the years, and i haven't had a stock tracbar on a jeep in a long time. this rant is about auto zone sucking, and not keeping common parts in stock, or even readily available.

welcome back! 3 weeks in San Diego doesn't count as "work"..... but funerals suck-- come see us when you're recuperated and we'll get caught up.

P.S. I still think you coulda found me a "mission critical job" that woulda gotten me to CA!:sunshine:

Got the SYE install finished tonight. Driveline angles aren't right yet, but I have drop brackets on the way and then going up 2 inches. I'll set angles at that point.

Did ride much better at 50 MPH, although still has some noise, probably due to the angles.

Feelin' pretty good right now.
