Weekend is over...what did you get done?

welded a new flex joint into the exhaust on my aunt's rav4 saturday night... came out great.

Spent all morning Sunday replacing every single remaining stock brake line on the MJ, as well as the wheel cylinders (just gotta keep it running till I'm ready to throw the 8.25 in), brake hose, gas tank, pump assembly (THANKS gambit!), and some bits of crunchy old fuel hose. Bled the brakes and I have braking in the back again!

Just replaced the filler neck on the gas tank and the top half of the air filter housing too, the thing no longer smells like a rolling explosion, it's kinda awesome.

spent all day talking with wife what i should do with Avon.. Sell it? Trade it? Buy Dougs MJ and do a swap? decisions decisions...

One other suggestion on the starter...make sure the connection from the battery to the starter is nice and clean. Just went though this on my buddy's ZJ last month. Called me from the gas station right after dropping me off to get my Jeep to say his wouldn't start. Looked at it and had the same symptoms...full power but not a peep from the starter when you cranked it. The relays were still clicking though. To get him going we cut the ignition on and jumped the starter using a screw driver. When he got home he shut it off and tried to restart it and it wouldn't start. Told him to clean the connections and that took care of the problem.

Just something to keep in mind as it's easy and FREE! :)

Shouldnt have said anything...got a text this morning saying "it won't start again"
:banghead:

Saw Iron Man II Friday with the boys. Started on rebuilding my hydro assist mount on Saturday while the network wiring in the office part of the shop was redone. Got invited to have a beer with nephiew and quit around 4:30 and went to one of the "clubs" he sells liquir to. Wife got pissed. Woke up Sunday with a hurting eye. Found out Monday I had metal in my eye!

OW!

Been there, done that. Dec 31 saw me spending the entire evening with a welder in a friend's garage building up a d30... Jan 1 saw me waking up with a mildly itchy eye. Two days later I finally realized (after checking many times) that there was a piece of metal in my cornea and went to the ER. Took three different visits to two ERs (general, then specialists) to get the fragment of metal and the rust it produced out of my cornea as it was about 30% of the way through to my inner eye. Total cost was several thousand dollars, fortunately my insurance covered most of it...

Two weekends ago the same thing happened again, even though I was wearing a face shield this time. Fortunately I said to myself "this feels damn familiar" and checked very carefully in the mirror, saw the metal. Used a round-cornered rare earth magnet out of an old hard drive stuck inside the finger of a sterile glove to fish the metal out myself this time, initially was worried it might cause an infection problem but later that day I couldn't even tell it ever happened.

no work this week so from this weekend to today I...
replaced leaf bushings, installed currie correctlync, passenger side ball joints, RE trac bar, oil change, waterpump, tranny fluid swap, engine bay spray down and shampoo interior.

still have a U-joint to put in, shackle bushings from energy suspension, transfer case and diff fluid swap.
just bought it, trying to get it in good driving order.

Just got my drivers door lock and RKE working again on the xj! It's only been dead for a year now

GRATS!! welcome to the world of "over educated, under employed" workforce. I know you'll make better use of your degree than I have, but for now, just enjoy giggling at other people when they have to study....

The thought of no more "homework" for the rest of my life is amazing. And I use homework in the terms of "stupid crap that professors assign just to keep me busy and from having any sort of a life what-so-ever because they feel their class is the most important."

Man I wish I could graduate every Saturday...I haven't paid for a single round of drinks all week!!!!

I remember that time (actually DON'T remember it...) well. The feeling that you're gonna have tons of time to do anything you want with no one telling you how to spend your nights............... then I got married :laugh3:

So, in other words, don't get married right? :D

Went out last night with a good buddy of mine and a group of our good friends for one last hoorah before my buddy goes back home. Moving back to NJ and peacing out on us either tomorrow or Monday, so his parents came to town for graduation and said get your friends and pick a good restaurant and we'll pay for it. Ended up at a nice Burger n' Brew place downtown and then went a couple blocks over for a few more drinks and to shoot some pool for a couple hours. Definitely a good night and i'm gonna miss more of them when he leaves......I see a road trip to NJ in the near future.
