Swamp Lake trip July 26-28 2013

That tard had an ARB on his D35!!!!!

Then someone should have told him how to turn off the switch when making tight right turns on solid rock! What a waste of ARB.

The grade isn't so bad for non-towing.

Steeper and nastier is out there, it really didn't phase me when I drove it last year.

Some inspiration

4.5" lift, 32's, locked front & rear.

I'm guessing I'll need to add the front recovery points I've been lacking?

Should I stay away or should I go??

You should go. You'll be fine. It has rock crawling sections, so it's always a possibility of getting hung up, or you might hit the lines just right and drive right through.

Just ordered front tow hook brackets. I just might make this one!

Still trying to decide if I should drive up Thurs. night or EARLY Fri.

What time are you planning on leaving Friday Morning?

If I do drive up Fri. Do I need to reserve a camp spot at Dinky Creek? There are only 8 left.

Will you be bringing firewood? If so are you getting a permit?

No campgrounds to sign up for....where we are going is far away from civilization.

We leave from a staging area early Friday morning (I would guess 8-9am)

Don't know about the fire restrictions right now....if there is any. We have picked up lumber on the trail on the way out there in the past.

i'll be leaving Wednesday to head up for some fun with my kid out in the Sequoia National Park. Will head over Thursday afternoon from there to meet up with the rest of you guys.

I was really hoping to make this trip, but its not going to happen. Too much to do on my rig and never any time to work on it. Next year, I hope.

Have fun. Be safe. Post pictures!

Here's directions: Take Hwy 168 from Fresno east about an hour to Shaver Lake. As you are coming into the town of Shaver Lake make a right turn onto Dinkey Creek Rd, where there is a sign saying Wishon and Courtright Reservoirs. Go about 12-15 miles on Dinkey Creek Rd and look for another sign saying Wishon and Courtright Reservoirs, and make a right turn at the sign onto McKinley Grove Rd. You'll immediately cross the bridge over Dinkey Creek then go about a 1/4 mile and you'll see two roads that go to the left, one cuts back sharply and goes to Camp Fresno, and the other one is 10S36, make a left turn onto 10S36 and immediately turn into the trees on the right, which will be our camp.

Hmm.....what needs be done?

Thanks for the support, but not going to happen so quick. Need to replace the exhaust header, or see if its possible to patch a big effing hole. Also need to replace the shift solenoids and probably the torque converter. Plus a couple of less serious issues.

My main obstacle is time. I work long hours six days a week and just haven't had time to start any of it.

Doesn't seem too bad a team of folks couldn't help you out with.
