Seven years ago today, my life changed forever

Hi there everyone, I know I really don't post here often, but I usually lurk around every day checking out what other people are doing with their XJ's and search threads to help me with random things I need to do to my Jeep. I thought I would share this with everyone, this is the other side of my automotive love. I know it's not Jeep related, but I am a lover of ALL things cars, no matter what genre they fall into. This car has taught me a lot about working on cars and modifying them, so even if it's not your taste, I hope you guys can at least respect the love and dedication I've put into this car. Thanks, hope you guys enjoy the video.

BTW, I don't put ads on my videos, so I don't make any money off of the people who view them. I'm just sharing my experience with other great automotive enthusiasts.

A couple things... Stop ricing your shit out, it's ultra gay, and more importantly, learn to drive, and stop crossing the yellows in a canyon. It's not a XXXXing race course, your poorly chosen apex isn't that important in your grocery getter, you're going to kill someone.

While I do appreciate the love you have for your ride, and I do respect the time and work you put in it, I do question the safety of your driving habits.

I skimmed through the vid and at one point there was something about a "meet."

Was this road closed or were you really just taking bad lines through bad curves with no regard for the safety of yourself and others?

oh wow this is gonna get good :flame:

if there is anything I have learned from living in massachusetts: NEVER EVER CROSS THE YELLOW LINE! DON'T EVEN GET CLOSE TO IT

if there is anything I have learned from watching your video: NEVER EVER CROSS THE WHITE LINE! SOMEONE ELSE NEEDS THAT LANE MORE THAN I DO!

HOLY SHIT. This is easily the coolest XXXXing car I have EVER seen. You haters need to recognize automotive excellence when you see it. This car represents not only perfection of style, but a complete mastering off all things performance. I am humbled by merely having the opportunity to see this legend on my screen. If only I could see it in person to give it the homage it deserves by gently massaging my pubic area while in the pilots seat until we reached a rev-limiter smashing, gym sock soaking climax together. Oooohhhh I'm all hot and bothered now....

There was only one clip where I crossed the double yellow, and indeed, the road was secured. The clip starts right after a u-turn, so I know there's no traffic going our direction. We had about 20 people at the bottom of the hill in constant communication with us and if there had been any oncoming traffic, we would have immediately let off. That was the only reason I crossed it, because I knew that the road was secured. I know very much about the safety of other drivers, and would never do anything that malicious. The other clip that I have, I only touched the yellow once, and it was around a corner that I could see around, so you can see I am perfectly able to have fun while staying in my own lane.

Ok, so what I'm reading here is that because you had some buddies on CB's at the bottom of the hill that makes it safe? It sure as hell doesn't make it legal. Doing things like THAT is what makes it hard on everyone else that wants to do it the right way.

You're not going to get any love here for doing boneheaded crap like this.

Oh, and I very much understand if my car isn't your cup of tea, all I ask is be respectful. I love cars of all shapes, sizes, engine displacement, drivetrain, and country. I've owned two XJ's, just talked my roommate into buying a new Wrangler, go 4-wheeling with Chevy guys, go to car shows with Ford guys, go on drives with Honda guys, hang out with motorcycle guys, etc. I respect anything that has passion put into it. Sure, my car isn't the greatest car in the world. I bought it seven years ago as a simple DD, and fell in love with it. I am not wealthy, but I do what I can on a shoestring budget. So like I said, if you don't like it, that's fine and I don't take it personally. Just be respectful about it, that's all.

Was it "legal"? No, it wasn't. I've seen plenty of 4-wheeling groups do things that if you wanted to get technical, were illegal too. The road was 100% secured in both directions, and I'm not sure what else you want me to say. That road is so remote, we saw maybe 8 cars on an 80+ mile trip. Outside of that short clip, we never crossed a yellow line once. In fact, it had been raining most of the trip so we were just cruising. You could probably take a 12" lifted XJ with no sway bars faster than we were going. Were there any lives in any danger except mine? Nope. Was I pushing my car to its limits? Nope, I never do on any public road. I never push my car past probably about 85% of its limit, the 100% is reserved specifically for the track. And as you saw in the video, I do in fact go to the track. I don't "street race" anymore at all. Yeah, I did when I was 19 and thought I was invincible. Had one close call and said that's enough, not on the roads anymore. My dad was a paramedic for 12 years, and took me to open track days all the time when I was a kid. Of all the people who should know about track safety, it should be me.

This car has taught me a lot about working on cars and modifying them

and by "modifying" you mean rattle can everything black and throw in every kind of bolt on auto zone upgrade you can find?

Rattle can black was better than it being 5 different colors, which I had to do all myself after a local insurance company screwed me over and wouldn't cover the damage from my accident.

Oh, what "AutoZone upgrades" do you see there? My seats were a factory brand, the harnesses were DOT-Approved Schroth 4-point harnesses, the exhaust is a Flowmaster muffler with custom piping from a shop, a Fidanza flywheel (not cheap), proper SVT clutch kid (again, not cheap). I've never put a "fart can" on the car, never put a shopping cart wing on it, never put "NOS" stickers on. Just because it's a car that has been modified doesn't make it a ricer, sorry.

That video made my day:) What a hoot.

Reminds me when I had my first car, a 66 VW Beetle. Put in 3 point belts(the wrong way), 2bbl carb and I thought I was Formula One driver Jimmy Clark:) Never went too
fast because I figured the rear wheels would tuck under and I would roll it.

Get the diff fixed and go to Pike's Peak. Then you can drive that thing to it's limit.
