Burn permits fro private residences are different than campfire permits. Campfire permits are not restricted (usually) until 4th of July.

BTW, what makes you guys think that you are going to move faster than the 150 LandCruisers?

CRASH

They can just use the passing lane. Landcruisers are slow.

Would you guys be willing to have a relative novice come along? I would love to get a chance to experience the Rubicon, and the dates for this run would work great for me.

Be prepared for some very large crowds. The first time I ran the 'Con was 8 or 9 years ago with the Toyota Rubithon. It was a traffic jam from start to finish. I ended-up heading out a day early on account of the crowds.

how bad is it gonna be compared to Memorial Day or 4th of July with normal traffic plus 150 Cruisers?

July 4th is much worse, it took us 10+ hours to get to Spider on July 4th. Also, the TLCA group were good people & well organized, I can't say the same about the July 4th seen.
I just thought about it & realized it was 10 years ago that I ran it with TLCA. There were only 120 Crusiers on our run, but that was enough that there was no room to camp at the springs, which is why I cut out early.

Last time I ran the 'con (I was a sophmore in highschool, let's just leave it at that) we saw 3 other groups. Less than ten rigs not counting our own. And it wasn't a weekday.

Does anyone have a clue what's the weather like? I looked at the weather reports but that really doesn't give a good feel for it... If it's anything like what we got in SoCal looks like I will have to pack my tent with me after all :(

You always need a tent in the Sierras, it can rain almost any time.......unless you don't mind getting your sleeping bag wet. Sleeping under the stars is great, but it's good to have the tent just in case.

Hope you guys have a great weekend.

The News said it snowed last night in parts of Tahoe.

That sucks :( What's left to finish?

I gotta put my coil spacer in the front and box the rear shackle hanger (drop the shackle), put my rear bumper on, and weld in my rocker replacement kit (URF knockoff). I also have a tranny cooler on the way I'd like to install (but not a neccissity), and parts to remake my trackbar because I think mine's going to bind quite a bit. On top of all that... I haven't had it offroad in almost a year, so I don't think this would be a good "test run". :(

I need a head count of who's going so I can start marinating the Carne Asada for Sat. night's dinner. There are only 9 responses to the poll. Are we still doing the Mexican Buffet thing Sat. night?

I think it's 9 -1 at this point: someone just posted about not being able to make it. I didn't know about the mexican buffet Sat night, but I'm all for it: do you need anyone to bring anything or provide anything?

Lee- I think you're confusing this rubicon run with the Swamp Lake run next month?
