Speaking of beer... did you guys finish off that beer I brought up last weekend?

Also does anyone know what time is the place that offers fire permits open till? Can I get it at the Icehouse next morning?

They usually close at 5 on weekdays. You really wouldn't want to drive backwards to go get it in the morning....it'd be a 1 hour roundtrip to retrieve it.

You can call ahead, they will fill it out over the phone and leave it in a drop box for you. Call them now to make sure they have a box.

My wife is debating whether to come with me or not. She wants to know what "facilities" she can expect on the Con? I told her not to expect much. Does anyone know if there are outhouses, etc along the way or will she just have to rough it? Also, what food are people bringing? I don't know what to bring. I have a cooler, but don't know what will hold up? Do you guys use regular or dry ice? Are you bringing hot dogs, burgers etc to grill up? Are there any grills at the campsites or do you guys bring a little grill with charcoal? Just wondering what to expect. I don't just want to eat my granola bars. I eat them almost every weekday for breakfast. :helpme:

No crappers except at Rubi springs.
As far as food goes, what ever you want to eat. Last year we had a Mexican buffet Sat. Night. Chips, dips, salsa, Carne asada and so on. Pick up one of the 5 day Igloo coolers with the lock latch from Walmart only $18.72 and use regular ice. I bought one they are GREAT!! I have 2 one for food and one for drinks
As far as equipment goes I'm a traveling general store. I carry everything I or enyone else may need! Playstation 2 and TV, Mr. Coffee, spare parts, grinders, welder, Sawzall,1/2 drill and bits, assloads of food, and extra steel.
:wow:

Thanks for the tip Lee. I'll bring a bunch of spare parts too, like a set of dana 30 axle shafts, spare steering stuff, etc. This is my 1st trip to the Rubicon and my 1st camping/wheeling trip. I have camped years ago, but never wheeled and camped, it should be alot of fun. See you there.

you guys might wanna check this out: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=257165

150 land cruisers going in from Wed. to Friday, they're requesting that everyone wait until Friday Noon to go in.

Thanks for the heads up Brett. What do you guys want to do about this. I know we have taken time off of work to do this run, so I don't want to be inconvienced by the Toyota crowd. Should we continue as planned? Do you guys want to do the Fordyce trail 1st on Friday and then do the Rubicon in reverse from Tahoe to Icehouse rd, or would this be harder because we would be sneaking past the Toyotas. Wouldn't you know that a major 150 rig meet was held the same weekend we had it planned for. I know the Rubicon is a popular place, but come on.

I say we go as planned. Even though they say noon they will probably take longer. And if we wait till the full weekend starts it might even be a bigger zoo. Now on the other hand with 8~9 rigs I think we should be able to manage and sqeeze by. In any case, no matter how you look at it it will be crowded at one point or another.

That's fine. The Rubicon is a very popular place & we can still have fun with it being crowded. I will really try to meet you guys Thurs night then, so I don't stuck behind some people and miss you guys Friday morning when you start the trail. I doubt we will be able to do Fordyce after the Rubicon Trail, but the Rubicon will probably give us a handful anyways and we shouldn't rush too much anyways.

I just read in the local (Grass Valley) paper that CDF has ended all burn permits for the year, starting last Sunday
