Ah zip, I had almost forgotten. My first one was parallel port, talk about slow! And also somehow that reminded me of low level formatting 1440k floppies to 1722k to run some obscure Linux distro that wouldn't otherwise fit on a normal 3.5" disk.
I guess I shouldn't help derail the QOTD thread...

We still use zip drive with a serial cable here at work for one piece of equipment once in a while. Still use 3.5 floppies for another piece of equipment. Most of which should have been replaced 10-15 years ago.
