NOT a budget buggy build

As for gusseting, here's an idea:

There would also be another gusset on the other side (obviously).

Sorry, just had to throw it out there.

The gusset will be where you're showing it, and will be the same 3x3 boxed tubing cut at a good angle and welded to the tube and part of the way up the side of the mount. That adds a lot of structure and a lot of weld.

The panhard mount will be boxed in to the LCA mount, and gusseted to the side. I haven't figured out the gusset between the two mounts yet........but I have some ideas. :)

Where's the keg fuel cell? :yelclap:

edit: needs more parabolas.

Sorry, the fuel cell is made out of petroleum byproducts................and I don't have one of those fancy parabola bending (high $$) machines.

:) :)

Got a little more done today, finally started on the front.

Trimming and narrowing

Working on the front crossmember

The tube across the bottom of the crossmember is 1.75" sleeved with 1.5", so it should be able to take a beating.

This is funny you are going to get yours buggy done before me:moon:
Looks good though
Sad isn't it? You could get off your ass and have yours done in a day or less.

I guess drinking beer and sitting on the couch are more important. :D

More work on the front, the grill is stuck in to see where things need to go, and the inner fenders/shock/spring mounts are gone.

Now that you're a cool TJ driver you're not so motivated about the buggy. :D

They're on the shocks. :)

Screw that...Why not traingulate the two top links and tie them into one on top of the diff and get rid of the panhard and the top link mounts on the axle all together???

Edit: Nevermind I see it's only a 3link with a torque arm

Yup.............I want a panhard bar..........and I don't want a sway bar. :)

I'm thinking now that I should have a push bar out in front of the grill. The idea for the front is to run a few 1" tube sections between the top two cross bars, then plate across between the two bars..........sort of like how the front of an XJ is above the grill. There will also be a bar that runs across just under the grill, and then it will be plated between that bar and the bottom bar. I planned on running a vertical tube in the middle between the bottom bar and the bar under the grill.

Now I'm thinking that I should have a push bar so I don't bust up the grill if I push someone or run into a big, high rock wall just right. I'm trying to keep it as snub nosed as possible, but a push bar up high in front of the grill probably wouldn't hurt anything. Right now the tires are even with the front of the crossmember. Thoughts?

Well my purly novice opinion would think a push bar just under the grill would be fine (but probably not lower) as you'd then be out of the tires arc.

Or you could just watch where you're fawking going. ;)

Rich... I dont think you should have anything up front, unless your going to do pleanty of lights. If you do lights, give a little tube up there.

But I like this!!!! Glad your stickin to this idea!

I thought that it was a magnetic angle guage at first, but looking at it now it looks like a winch fairlead? Interesting.

Push bars are for cops. If you've got plans for your Starsky and Hutch roof light, then go ahead and modify the front end - otherwise you're on the right track the way it is.
