NOT a budget buggy build

Well, after being tied up with other things for a couple of weeks, I'm back at it this weekend. Scrappy came down for the weekend to help, here's what we did last night.

Moving it out to do some last minute cleaning underneath:

Give it a rumble seat and a Shelby style headache bar adn call it good.

Here's a couple of pics of how the cage is coming. There's no windshield, so the bar across the cowl will be under the cowl, rather than above it. Thin plate will go from the front edge of the cowl back over the dash to a bar across the rear (front?) edge of the dash.

It's going to be narrow for an XJ buggy, outside of cage is even with the outside edge of the dash, and the rockers are nice and high. The bars holding the rockers up are temporary to locate them.

A few parts that came in............12 gal fuel cell, heat treated chromemoly lower rear links with 1.25" rod ends, and 16" Fox coilovers with triple springs and shaft bumps.

I assume those are the links from PolyPerformance? Good call, I've been waiting to see someone use those and hear some reviews, the stats sure are impressive.

The price is even more impressive

Yeah, they are from PolyPerformance. They are heat treated and made from .188 chromo, and are as strong as .313 DOM. Strong but not so heavy. I was going to use 2" .250 wall DOM and sleeve it with 1.5" .120, so this is lighter.

I used them on mine. No bends yet. You know if it's lighter I'm going to try it.

Richard, how wide at the boatside's are you ? It looks nice and narrow.I got mine down to 59" but would have liked to be slimmer.

are you running the claws or is that just what they axles are sitting on?

Yeah, I'll be running the Claw's. I haven't run them before, so I'll find out how they do when I get this thing out on the trail.

I'm off that weekend..............but can it get finished by then.:repair: :repair: :repair:

Doubtful.

I have a friend with some 38 inch claws on his CJ6. They work well, but work better running backwards.
