NOT a budget buggy build

I don't think so.......as much as I'd like to. I'm off Nov 4th, and could make a day run if I was ready, but I work the 11th.

We'll just have to see how it goes. I figured I'd use the time when Kathy was in London (the next two weeks) to really crank out the work, but now she's not going and I'm taking care of her and everything else around the house. Now I'm having to really focus on the stuff that has to be finished, so we'll see what shape it's in.

Do I really need to plate the rocker panels?? :)

Yes, you need to plate the rockers, & make everything pretty.

But you have also to take care of Kathy.

Should I buy some stock in Starbucks:laugh3:

Got a little more done this weekend, mostly on wiring. Also just about finished welding up all the joints of the cage, plus more mounting brakets. Eliminated a bunch of wires, too. :)

Another shot of the dash/cowl from the passenger side. Of the mess of wiring that's on the inner fender well of the Renix XJ's, only four relays remain and are mounted to the engine side of the firewall. The coil is mounted on the passenger side of the firewall, and the trans computer is moved and mounted above the steering column. The mess of wiring around the fuse block and connector on the drivers side, and the steering column and dash, is all gone. All circuts other than the engine control system will be freshly wired.

Looking good dude!

I'm getting there. The new dash is in and all the wiring is finished. Autometer gauges for temp, oil pressure, voltmeter, and tach. We ditched all wiring in the steering column, and put a keyed ignition switch in the dash. Oh, and we installed a cig lighter for my camera battery charger and anything else that I might want to use. I have two pair of forward lights, and one rear light that shines on the rear diff. For now they are all small lights that fit, I can upgrade and add to it later.

Since the battery is in the rear, there is one hot cable to a through bulkhead connector at the firewall. The hot lead for the starter and starter relay come off of this connector on the engine side of the firewall, and the winch hot lead, ignition hot lead, and a hot lead to a fuse block come off the inside of the connector. Ground goes from the battery to winch, then from the winch to the block.

Anything that isn't engine control is new wiring, everything original was ditched. The engine control wiring was shortened to fit the current locations, the relays for the computer, O2 senser, etc, were moved to the firewall, and the starter relay was moved to the firewall. The coil was moved to the pass side of the firewall.

It took awhile, but I'm glad I did it. The new dash is nice, and the wiring is clean and simple, and will be easy to diagnose if there's a problem. Now I can get back to my blacksmith work........... :)

Good to hear sounds like you are moving

Yo Gout I would put that sucka up for sale while it's fresh and clean. Paul, Dave, Matt and Ron are soon gona figure out the futility of going up against an Ftoy. Consider this a little inside trading cus I see the Cherokee buggy market taking a major dive in the near future. :D :D :D

Ahh, you're a died in the wool Jeep guy............you'll never be right in a Toy. After you decide you don't want to compete anymore you'll be linking that thing and removing the Toyota stickers.

:D :D

Here's a few pics of the dash and wiring.
