My "Hero" Blog

thats awesome Kevin. glad to see it coming along man.
considered a 14b rear?

I am now considering the 14b as well. I was heading for another 8.8 but if I can swap my hp44 to 8lug for cheap. I'll be heading in the 14b direction next winter. Have bigger fish to fry right now.

I've definitely considered it. But I already have the free 60 sitting in my garage. I'm thinking ill do an insane shave job on it and see if I like it. If I can pull it off it should be pretty sweet.

Maybe down the road I'll build a 14 bolt on the side and swap it in later.

Unless I find a screamin deal on a 14 bolt. Then I will re-evaluate lol.

ya kevin just get those axles in. Did you grab a ruffstuff simple swap kit for the rear?

No I didn't grab the simple swap kit. Shoulda woulda coulda. After seeing how nice it was to have for your 14 bolt, I might have to pick one up.

And yes I am, thanks for the link! That's stupid cheap lol.

Have you guys heard of XRF ball joints? I've actually heard really good things about them and rumor has it, they're pretty darn cheap. I'm gonna call go a quote next week probably. Too much going on with school to deal with it now.

Kevin, I am using the XRF ball joints in my 44, so far they have been great, two years now and they are still tight.

I was just looking around to find that out :) I got them from thetireclub.com. I believe the part numbers are K8195T lower ball joint, and K8194T Upper.

E bay also has some companies that sell them too.

Thanks a bunch man. Thats the correct MOOG part number, and it looks like XRF uses the same numbers. Ill browse ebay and see what I can come up with.

Well after doing some research it looks like these are some pretty stout ball joints. Many claim they are superior to/that they outlast Spicer and MOOG ball joints. Also tighter than spicer/MOOG from the get go.

Just ordered a full set of 4 using the part numbers K8194T and K8195T through thetireclub on eBay for a $99 shipped!

AND they have a lifetime, million mile warranty. Cant beat that. Im pretty stoked!

Good score !!!

nice man! I should have done that on mine!

Got bored between classes today and decided to cut the brackets off of the passenger side.

I got a little too excited with the grinder and cut some grooves in the tube.. Not sure what I'm gonna do about it. I'll probably just leave it but maybe I'll weld them up and grind them smooth.
