Please Accept my Resignation

Dear Board Members

Effective September 16, 2024, I am resigning as President of the Sierra Chapter of .

It has become increasingly evident over the last few months that my vision of Sierra Chapter as a cooperative, friendly, and rewarding organization to enjoy the hobby we all love has deteriorated beyond my ability to repair it. The Chapter board is no longer cooperative, no longer friendly, and thus no longer rewarding. Disrespect, chronic abuse, and intimidation are behaviors that I simply do not enjoy and do not align with my vision of the future.

I wish the Sierra Chapter the best of luck and success in the future.

The Current VP will become the President, and a special election will be held to fill the VP role. There will need to be a special election to create any new roles. These special elections will need to be posted as a poll to the national members forum.

Thank you for your leadership, Jon. The club definitely isn't what it was when we first joined and it's a bummer to see the negativity at events that we used to look forward to. You did an awesome job.

Don't really know what all the drama is about, but want to say thanks Jon for all your years of service to the chapter! You were even a member of the BOD when I was Prez and that was like 10 years ago!

Its a thankless role in alot of ways so hearing that from you guys means alot.

I feel like I poured my heart and soul into the Sierra Chapter of over the years.

I put in countless hours over the years as a volunteer because I love everyone on here and I believe in and I love our chapter and I believe on our mission to maintain existing membership, grow with new members, to put on fun trail runs , and to raise money for land use organizations to do our part to help keep public lands open to the public.

It was always worth it.

has always been like family to me.

It was an extremely Difficult decision to make.

I wish the best to the chapter and ill still be around.

We know and see all the effort you and previous BOD members have put into making the events such an amazing time for us. Just hang tight and will be great again.

Jon and fellow members,

It is with a heavy heart that I take over as President per the bylaws. I will do everything in my power to turn around the current culture (perceived by members based on recent events and actual as known by BOD/now former BOD). With the recent events and being able to reflect on prior interactions within this BOD, I understand now that my intent to de-escalate conversations and attempt to play mediator could have been mis-interpreted as condoning the poor behavior mentioned above because I didn’t outright speak-out against it.

I am very sorry to all that the situation has come to this and we as the BOD weren’t able to agree on common ground to continue running this Chapter together. I honestly believe that we all had similar goals based on where we ended our last meeting, but the way that those goals and other agenda items were addressed and discussed has a lot of improvement needed.

I will continue to serve on this BOD (at a minimum) until the end of the current term in order to maintain our Chapter and hope there will continue to be a Chapter around for us to serve. I am sorry to be losing you Jon, your assistance, insight, and input will be missed.
