Your Jeep actually did pretty well. Seems like our wheelbase disagreement has yet to be settled though.

I took a bunch more pics but they're all on black and white film. If any turn out I might be able to post them in a few weeks.

Dont even start!

Lol I can't wait to get out to reno and wheel with you guys.

Over the weekend I got my sway bars all ready to go. I chopped down the links, made spacers and whipped together some fancy little gussets. Everything is tacked in place and this Friday I'm going to burn them in with my buddies 220v mig. Happy parents = Happy Kevin = Happy Jeep.

Now for the current future plans:

* Install SS Braided brake lines
* Install SYE and driveshaft - need to find a yoke style SYE first
* Bastardize rear RC leaf pack to lower it a few inches
* Mid arm 3 link w/ ~1" stretch
* Bumpstop (properly)
* Build new tranny crossmember
* Clock the 231
* Tummy tuck/flat belly skid
* 2x6 rockers to build a cage off of
* Hybrid cage
* Tube doors with left over tube from cage (if there is any)

In that order, while wheeling every chance I get!

i like the plans.

going with the prothane coil inserts?
http://www.jegs.com/i/Prothane/311/19-1704/10002/-1

Thats the plan for the front, and hopefully something progressive out back. I'd like to pick your brain about the prothanes whenever I see you next, I have a few questions.

And about the VORRA race next weekend, I can't go Sunday anymore.. Going to watch an SCCA ATV race with my dad. I might go to VORRA Saturday though.

Just developed a few B&W pics from PC. Now I need to figure out how to work my roommates scanner and I'll post them up!

I love my inserts. Thay work great..

Sweet. Tuning/adjusting them to keep the tires out of the fenders in both the rocks and the fast stuff is what confuses me. :dunno:

Anyway, I got the scanner working. These pics were taken using 400 ISO B&W film. I took a wild guess on the exposure times for development and went at it. Didn't have a chance to "edit" any of them because I had only a few minutes in the dark room here at school.

All I got. More to come next week!

Sweet, thats a good read. Thanks for the info!

Well I got my swaybars all buttoned up. I cut up some gussets last weekend and brought them up to Folsom to burn in with my buddies 220V Lincoln Mig.

Heres a practice weld. Not super consistent, but its soo clean compared to the flux core I'm used to.

Heres a shot of a spacer I chopped up and a gusset I threw together.

IMG_2343.jpg

This pic shows the bend I put into the gusset to clear the tie rod. To do this, I threw the piece in a vise and hammered it with a BFH.

IMG_2345.jpg

Both gussets turned out identical. I made myself proud.

Heres a top/front view of one of the brackets installed on my Jeep. Notice the gusset on the left side.

And a view from the side. I plan on picking up longer bolts next weekend.

IMG_2568.jpg

Yes, the welds are better than they look! :roflmao:

I didn't have any paint and didn't want the metal to rust in the rain, so I sprayed it down with some WD-40 - should do the trick for now!

It handles like a champ and I am not at all worried about them bending. And now my parents are happy, so life is good.

The other day got a steal of a deal on a SYE from Jon, and am picking up some XJ leafs springs from Lodi Jim on my way home for the weekend. Hopefully I can plug away at my jeep and knock some things off my new to-do list in the few spare hours I will have this weekend!

:cheers:

Someone broke your camera - the color isn't working.

Well, the rear end of my XJ was sitting a few inches too tall and I was stuck using the factory shackles, and I had a set of 2" RC shackles hiding in the garage that I wanted to use. So I stopped by Lodi Jim's place on the way home last weekend and grabbed a whole bunch of leaf springs!

IMG_2588.jpg

My original plan was to pull some leafs out of my existing 4.5" leaf pack and replace them with some stockers. Instead, I ended up building a whole new leaf pack using a full XJ leaf set and one XJ 2nd leaf. I was looking for 2" of lift or so from the pack but I doubt I even got 1. Silly me.

IMG_2593.jpg

I plan on pulling the pack apart pretty soon and adding a few leafs.

I am very worried about axle wrap. Any ideas to help combat this? I don't really want a ladder bar.

My buddies dad cut out a few of these stickers at work so I snatched one from him.

IMG_2595.jpg

Also, I pulled the doors off for the weekend. I wish I could leave them off all the time. I love it!

Thats all for now! Any ideas to help combat axle wrap would be appreciated!

:cheers:

Im thinkin of buying some off him and then selling them for $5 a pop and donate everything to CORVA. Ill ask when I see him next!
