GUNS & AMMO

A Cadillac? That's suppose to be a battle rifle! Not a pretty princess pew-pew!
I was following Cash's lyrics. I guess it will be a murdered out Cadillac? I plan on the thing having some nice features and running smooth, but don't be fooled. I do plan on using it.

Not appropriate man.

It'll cost you a hell've a lot of dimes, nickels too.

What's inappropriate? I'm confused.

If the problem is that I said I plan on using it, let me clarify. I plan on shooting the rifle I am building. I will be using it as a recreational sport weapon and/or for zombie defense. But it's not going to be babied. Not a princess.

so... how long are you gonna let your AK sit before you actually shoot it? another year and a half or so?

Probably............

My AR is seeing "regular" use as it's serving as my duty weapon...... ****in' department claims all their AR's have been issued, nothing to give me. I ain't buyin' it.... 3 Sgt's rotated from patrol to the jail when I came out so where's those 3 AR's???? I'm not happy about my rifle getting all marked up being clamped in and out of the rack in the cars.........

Still have yet to shoot the Mini-14 I got from Skully. :looney:

I think you will love the mini 14, it's not picky about ammo or mags. Mine is a mid 80's version & I love it. Kinda makes you want a ranch 30, though.

The Mini was our first Department issued long gun. They bought several on a grant. While I shot VERY well with the Mini, the one I was issued had ........ issues. It would consistently double feed after each 3rd round fired - no matter which mag, no matter how many rounds were in the mag. 3 other Deputies had similar feed issues with their Mini's. Their's were fixed by Ruger after they were returned once. Mine went back to Ruger 3 times. The 3rd time it kept doing it so I gave it back and said I won't carry an un-safe weapon. The second one they issued to me worked flawlessly and I enjoyed training/qualifying with it. I'm fairly certain the gun I have now is several years older than those the Dept. got so I'm hoping it never had the flaw the others did.

At least you know the rifle is (or isn't) being properly maintained.

Well if they issue me a Dept. AR...... it's still maintained by the same guy that maintains mine......... me. But if I gotta have one banged up or........ god forbid........ stolen out of my patrol car......... I don't want it to be mine. It's still effing rediculous what my employer makes me buy to do this job.

My brother laying down some steel plate last Sunday.

Those fall down targets are the most fun. We have that same setup at our Dept. range - two rows. White and blue alternating plates so we can either knock 'em down in order, shoot white then blue, or let the range officer call out what color to shoot to throw a bit more thinking into the mix. We've also got one with 5 plates on it that you spin like a carnival wheel, then when you hit one, it throws it off balance and it quits spinning and the heavy side swings until you hit the rest of the plates. Great fun!

I could knock 'em down just like your brother did with my Sig 9 all day long...... and ours are set up a bit farther down range. I'm still having trouble getting control of my XDM .40 to be able to knock 'em down like that...... but it's fun trying and practicing.....

We were shooting them with these. The bottom one in the pic was what he shoots in competition. It's what he was shooting there. He kicks the crap out of most of the guys with custom built semi auto race guns....with a double action revolver. :D

The sound of hitting steel is so rewarding. lol I play Steel Challenge every other month or so. Sucks I didn't have one clean run on either of the two videos I have.

I also started playing a little USPSA. Tons of fun, overall higher skill level than the local IDPA matches I've been shooting. There was a little steel in this one. Some pepper poppers at about 15yds.

I got an email from Shernic Gun Works, my SKS bull-pup kit should be here next week. I ordered it back in March so I'm excited to finally be getting it.

If you ever meet Josh you'll realize he's actually a pretty pretty princess.....:D

Anybody know if Left Hand is open to shooting yet? I know Arapahoe Forest Service District lifted the fire and shooting restrictions but I thought LHC's shooting closure was prior to that. Has it been lifted or is shooting there still not allowed? I've got a couple of new guns these last few months and still haven't been able to take them out.
