GUNS & AMMO

Picked up a new obsession today. A Ruger 10/22. Already looking at some goodies for it. Taking it to the range on Wed. Got to love a new gun to make you feel like a kid again.

I put a variable scope on nearly everything. My muzzleloader just got a 4-12x40 on it. My buddy asked my why such a powerful scope. I don't really know...It works? My .22 has a 3-9x40, my .243 has a 4-16x40 that will be replaced with a 6-24x50. I just want to reach out and touch something.

I never knew there were regulations restricting optics aside from night vision or laser sights. Of course, I've only hunted in one state, Indiana. Now that I live in Wisconsin, I had to check out that particular regulation. It is legal to use magnified sights with a muzzleloader during any legal firearm season.

Thanks for giving me a good reason to learn something today.

Picked up a free Bushnell 1x32 red/green T dot from my boss today. Got it mounted up to the Ruger 10/22 this evening. Going to the range tomorrow to get it dialed in.

Does anyone have the bottom metal to their Remington 700 laying around? Looking for a BDL latch, but I'll settle for the ADL if I can't find a BDL.

Found this on a gun forum that I am a new member of, which is why it is out dated.

Assailant suffers injuries from 'fall'
Special to The Police News

May 20, 2011
AUGUSTA, GA - Orville Smith, a store manager for Best Buy in Augusta, Ga. told police he observed a customer, later identified as Tyrone Jackson of Augusta, on surveilance cameras putting a laptop computer under his jacket. When confronted the man became irate, knocked down an employee, drew a knife and ran for the door.

Outside on the sidealk were four Marines collecting toys for the Toys for Tots program. Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of them, Cpt. Phillip Duggan, in the back; the injury did not appear to be severe.

After police and an ambulance arrived at the scene, Cpt. Duggan was taken for treatment.

"The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken ribs, multiple contusions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose and a broken jaw ..... injuries he sustained when he slipped and fell off the curb after stabbing the Marine," according to a police report.

Hahahaha wow... that must have been quite a fall lol

Let me know what you think. was looking at it.for my younger brother to shoot with. felt really.good in hand.

I handled and almost bought one at the Tanner gun show last saturday. I really liked it. The machinist at Westminster arms in arvada said he was impressed with the machining quality and wouldn't hesitate buying one himself if he were i the market. I was going to get the Rock Island, but they were out of stock.

MY younger brother had one several years ago,,It was made in turkey and was a pos, wouldn't feed barrel was loose in the bushing it could be wiggled and ,not consistent in a clamp one round was dead on ,next one would completely miss the target ,took lots of work to make it mediocer,

Well, it has a lifetime replacement guarantee ... any problems and they will replace it, or if a new one is not available they will repair it at no cost

I've heard good and bad things on the Regent and it seems like its to one extreme or the other. People are either saying its a total piece of junk with poorly cast parts that aren't fit properly at all or that they're really well made and great shooters with quality to rival the name brand 1911's.

I've also heard Rock River and Taurus as being good "cheap" 1911's.

Around here Rock Island is known to be an excellent entry-level 1911. I keep almost buying one but then getting something else instead.

Hmm, cheap 1911s. I don't know if that is brilliant or bad news. I'd like to take one for a spin before buying one.

Sounds like it could be a good way to go out and buy two 1911s when you've budgeted for a Springfield or Kimber.

If you're just looking for a 1911, that is.

Has anyone seen/shot the Ruger 1911 that came out last year? It is super cheap ($629) but the problem is Ruger is way behind in production so they are hard to find.
