Chinamans Shakedown Run

Not sure if I'm going to make this one. I have a hiem joint I cannot get loose from my drag link. I've heated it up and banged on it hard enough to break my vise. Looks like I'm going to need to fab up a new drag link. This is not a bad thing as the existing drag link is too short and too much of the hiem joint shank is sticking out. I also have a broken steering stop. With that being broken, the high steer is hitting one of the axle mounts. This maybe why my old high steer broke. On the plus side, after I finish up this front end work, my heep should have a much tighter steering radius (in both directions) than it had before.

Re: Chinaman's Shakedown Run Headcount

Well I actually thought I was gonna make one finally. Not. Mom forgot to tell me we were having a family get together sat afternoon. :flamemad:

I dunno fellas......... Sounds like the BV area is slated to get 6" or more of snow Friday into Saturday....... Then turning into afternoon rain.......

Dunno if this will be worth the time/fuel investment - especially if the trail already has lots of snow on it......... Anyone know the trail condition currently?

I drove thru there yesterday morning and everything was dry.

Cool - then I suppose it'll just be a little cooler and sloppier than we'd hoped..... Probably won't run Carnage then if it's been snowed on........:dunno:

I'll be going back thru there Friday noonish as well and will report when I get home.

Forecast doesn't sound encouraging, I guess we will check weather conditions Friday and see. Yeah I wouldn't want to run Carnage even if it's just a little wet!

ya i hear BV generally stays a bit drier than expected becuase its in the valley....but we will see friday i guess

Well I guess we can scrap this run huh? Sux.

Who want's to re-schedule and when? Next weekend? :dunno:

Apparently my wife has a friend that's gonna be in Gunnison during the first weekend in May that she'd like to go see........ She won't drive down there herself, but if we ran Chinaman's sometime that weekend........

Saturday May 2nd anyone?

That may work for me. I still gotta find extra parts and tow hooks.

I think May 2 sounds good here. I just got back from a 9 1/2 hour drive back from Durango. Def some of the worst conditions I've driven in, mostly from BV to home. BV itself was VERY wet, not much snow on the ground, but snowing balls when I went through. If tonight is cold down there, it will be a sheet of ice.

Like I said, May 2 sounds good here.
