Ballistic long arm kit

That's is true. Although easily fixed. Ditch the stock steering that's junk once lift and long armed and replace it with one that the drag link goes straight to the knuckle and the tie rod goes knuckle to knuckle. Add assist to that and you have a sweet set up on the front end.

The steering force will still be from the body to the knuckle and that would put a great deal of stress on the suspension links. This kind of setup would require full hydro or some kind of custom beefy rack and pinion setup.

here is the Jeep. I can get ahold of him and try to get pics of just the LA. It looks like it hangs down alittle to low for me but that could just me the pics.

i would much rather have a trackbar than 6" of crap hanging down of the middle of the jeep

not much separation at the body end either, on paper it wouldnt be much better than a radius arm

Ok lets rephrase thing...a GOOD 4 link...

Believe me, a triangulated 4-link is nice...but on the front of an XJ getting good 4-link numbers is NOT going to happen without quite a bit of "massaging." Hell every body part from the firewall forward is gone on mine, and I still chose a 3-link after much contemplating and mock up since the work to try and get a GOOD working 4 link in the front just isn't worth it when a 3-link and panhard can work just as well. Just looking at that Jeep, hes sacrificed things I wouldn't remotely do to get that in there...

link doesnt work for me

His uppers mount where people usually mount their rock anchor lowers:doh:

I bet he has less than 2'' of link separation on the frame side, coupled with conventional steering and really good ground clearance seems like a really good idea to me.

Leave the double triangulated 4 links for buggies with full hydro and people with the ability to actually fabricate.

The reason you only see radius arm kits is because of the amount of work to make a 3-link (of 4 link for that matter) with good geometry. We did a 3-link in John Bjorm's XJ (Ultimate adventure XJ) and it was a PITA to get it set up to where it would correctly.

But, not looking to steal Ballistic's thread....so back to that....horray for another radius arm kit!

Believe me, I lobbied heavily in that thread for Ballistic to come out with a 3 link or even a long-arm 4 link with a panhard bar (BDS style) and go no response. I guess they just want a bit of the market share, which now includes Rough Country, TnT, Rubicon Express and Clayton. I told them if they could make a 3/4 link with a decent belly pan for around $700-800, they would sell a ton of them.

Doesn't matter, it's not like they are going to ship it out anyway :D:phone:

dont forget rustys :D

So great news guys, I had posted earlier in the Ballistic Fab vendor's forum under the custom built components thread asking if they could design a 3 link and/or 3 link brackets and this was their reply,

They're done, just looking for two seconds to breathe and we'll get them posted. We have a radius arm and 3-link setup completed with full replacement crossmember and reinforcements.

Jeff

Cant wait to check out the 3 link and most likely buy it for my next rig.
