Well if there are not enough people that need rooms maybe we should all just stay at the same hotel? Circus Circus? Any ideas? It does not really matter if we stay at the same hotel as we will meet up at the trail head anyway?

I am down for any hotel, Circus is usually the cheapest right there, but not always . The rooms in circus suck pretty bad, but not as bad as those real gnarly motels , but at least its better than packing all of the camping gear and camping at moon rocks, so Im happy anywhere.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't know my ass from a hole in the wall when it comes to Reno Hotels.

We should definitely try to all stay in the same hotel.

I think Circus Circus has the reputation as the worst of the major hotels, but as Jon mentioned it would be a step above any of the cheap motels. If you can't find any cheaper rooms at any major hotel, the Circus would probably do for you guys as it has in the past.

its definitely the worst . in the past it was 29$ a night . not really anymore, at 29$ a night ill do anything.

Looks like a lot of fun, missed this run last year. I am thinking I am
50% going but leaning more toward 100%. I need to check
On a few things.

Here is what the online deals are at Circus Circus for May 23rd - 26th, Standard Room:

Thu $59 Fri $139 Sat $139 Sun $139

is that with a AAA discount?

The closest actual campground I know of is Davis Creek Campground just south of town. It is right off the highway and about a 10 minute drive to the middle of town. Google 'Davis Creek Campground Reno' and you will see plenty of info. We will be driving right past there if we do any trails in Carson City which we may do.

There's a KOA Campground west of town at Boomtown, again about a 10 minute drive on the freeway.

There are several RV parks in town but I would be hesitant to recommend any. I have no idea if they are good, bad, or safe.

You can camp at Moon Rocks, but it will likely be crowded there. We are specifically NOT going to hold any official trail runs there during this event because Memorial weekend has the reputation of being a drunkfest and potentially very unsafe. You can stay there if you want, at your own risk.

I'm tentatively going. Depends on vehicle situation and if a job works out. I haven't been there in years but silver legacy had ok rooms, circus circus we just used to crash for a few hours before the drive home but its cheap for a reason

140 a night ain't cheep.
Just checked out the koa site at boomtown. It's just an rv park. Not tent camping. No trees for that matter really. Davis creek is 20$ a night for a single site with one vehicle. That is probably where I'll be. I'll be putting my reservations in this weekend.

I believe all individual campsites there are first come first serve. They have a group site that is reservable. Might be an option? ??

Damn really? 140 is nuts for that place. Used to run around 60 on weekends.

Silver Legacy is $49 a night but that weekend its $129 a night.
Motel 6 is $66 a night. Does anyone know which of the three would be closest to where we wheel: Reno, South Reno or Sparks?

I'll find out today. The group site has a nice large fire pit as well. It is 100$ a night with a 100$ cleanup deposit.

Did you find anything out Gordo? We would like to be part of this if it works out. :patriot:

We would need a more than a few people to save on the cost. What about Steve's Loop? Is camping allowed there? That place is Cool!!
