Uh... ok, how do you know? Did you attend the city council meeting? Or sit in through briefing? Do you know what all the updates are in your city? Are you THAT big of a moron? C'mon man, you GOTTA be fuckin' with me.

If I ran into you I'd fuck with you too!

I bet if you would have just been like, "Oh damn, I didn't know that, my bad, when did they start that?" while you were packing your shit, he might have explained it to you. But you were probably the umteenth jackass to question him, and explain to him he was wrong, and that somehow, you know the law and current events in law enforcement better than he does. Hmm..

Just out of curiosity, what do you do for a living?

Come on, Ive been going to that area for 13 years, Ive done night paddles from there, people were always having bon fires there, people have always night fished there. they put their boats in at night, there are no signs posted that they closed the park. The only way I wouldve known that it closed was if I had gone to a recent meeting when they discussed it.

It doesnt matter if I was the millionth jackass, what happened to the cop before I got there is not my fault. If being questioned about it is a problem for the police, then maybe they shouldve posted signs.

Why would you fuck with me, because I was walking to the river after dark? That wouldnt turn out well for either of us.

I trust good cops.

The police do not have the authority to knock a person off his bike for an infraction (assuming that is all this guy did). Knocking a guy off his bike "like that" could be considered deadly force in some states. Deadly force is usually only authorized for a fleeing felon, and then only when the felony committed involved the use or threatened use of deadly force (like an armed robbery).

 exactly, excessive force. Cops are trained to use minimal force necessairy, plus they are to consider public saftey above and beyond "getting their man". I dont think some guy flying at me off of a bike if im on the sidewalk is all that safe.

Cops are told to back off in a high speed chase for the same reason, public saftey.

I call B.S . If you are following the Law, Then that is not going to be the case. If you are always challenging the law, then sure. But come on, let's get real.
um most of the time that is the case in my small town though. bunch of asshat lying cops around here. for example gave littering tickets to 6 of us at a parking lot, when in fact the cop knew we didn't litter because he told us himself. exact words "i know this isn't your guys trash but im ticketing you for it anyway" those tickets were dropped but the cop then tried harassing us like when he sees you he would haul ass to catch up with you and ride your bumper, but never could get me for doing anything wrong. this town is like 3200 people by the way everyone knows everyone and any town over 10,000 people is like 30 minuets away. anyway after all the stunts he pulled, he finally got ran out of town. other cops just pull bs around here and think that you are up to no good cuz its after midnight soo they follow you for along time then pull you over and say you have a burnt out license plate light, when you get out and check and its still working. i have not been stopped for doing anything wrong before, always because of asshat cops, i dont break the law. i dont speed, i dont do any of that.

i do have respect for the ones that i know that are good cops, but there are a few around here that dont deserve any respect.

Yea, that may be, and like you said, people have bonfires down there in the middle of the night, fishing, boating, etc. Maaaaaaaaybe just MAAAAAAAAYBE people were doing *GASP* illegal things down there! A riverbank in the middle of the night? No fucking way, who would have thought? Instead of questioning him, why not just comply with him. He's not just there for shits and giggles to ruin your day... trust me, he's got a lot better things to do than to mess with some guy in a kayak. I'm sure if you asked him why he joined the police academy it wasn't to mess with kayakers.

Also, do you get frustrated when people cut you off in your truck? When some guy slows you down and takes away all your momentum? If it happened 10 times in a row, do you think you MIGHT be a bit more peeved, and JUST might do something you normally wouldn't do? And bullshit if you say no, I've seen truck drivers, both my uncles are truck drivers, I know how things work.

And no, I would fuck with you because you think you know my job better than I do, and you're right, it wouldn't end well for either of us, you'd be in the hospital and I'd have a SHIT load of paperwork to do.

BTW, truck drivers are assholes, they constantly take up room on the roads, and get in my way! I support NAFTA, bring on them mexican truckers!

Man, I'm just going to tell you, it's REALLY hard to give you ANY sort of credibility when your grammar is so horrid. Your mind just doesn't work well? Or did you just not want to put the effort in while at school?

Well I don't know, usually one is the product of his environment. One would assume that if you use correct grammar on a daily basis it would only make sense you would use it here. However, one would also assume if you have poor grammar you probably have a lower IQ thus making your argument on cops null and void.

There may be some illegal activity going on, I dont know, I didnt do it.
If you think truckdrivers are assholes now, wait until all the Mexican trucks get up here.
Yes, I do get frustrated sometimes, I dont let it effect my judgement, I just grit my teeth and go about my business. Its called professionalism. I agree that many drivers arent professional, that bothers me more than it does you, I promise.
As far as me ending up in the hospital, maybe, maybe not, If I did, it wouldnt be for lack of trying. I cant guarantee that I can kick everyones ass, only that I wont rollover without a fight.

Just as question, how old are you, ie what's your generation? If you're around 24-25, you're the same generation as Jim and I...;)

You're right, you don't know, so don't question it.

I don't want the mexican truckers up here, but hey, how does it feel to have someone make broad generalizations about your line of work. Somet

edit: And if you fight a cop, you WILL lose, not trying to sound like a hardass, just watch yourself with that. You'll end up in prison, or dead.

How does it feel......... it sucks, but I understand where it comes from and I deal with it without taking it out on innocent people. Many truckdrivers are assholes, I know that and except it. I dont blindly defend them just because I share a job with them.
Something you may have missed from earlier. I used to be a cop years ago when you were still in diapers. I grew up in a cop family with cop friends. I am well qualified to pass judgement and I dont like what I see. It is a hard job to have, it takes a special person to do it well. I wasnt very good at it because I let it get to me. So I dont do it anymore. More cops should honestly look at themselves and make the same decision. I also know that cops are just people with badges. They arent special until they prove they are.

Holy Crap! I knew that I might someday agree with Trail-Axe on something, but so soon?!

Trail-Axe, I hope you don't think that this means we can hold hands, and take long walks at sunset on the beach together now. It might be a little too soon for me to do that with you. :D

At the very least, the cyclist should have stopped and yielded to the pedestrian. He clearly saw that the Officers were moving, yet, he refused to yield. I don't care if the Officers picked the guy out of the crowd for special treatment. There are rules to the road and he messed up.

Police Officers are like anyone else doing their job. They have good days, and they have bad days. If you are stupid enough to challenge an Officer, you deserve what you have coming.
First off you're stupid because Cyclist have the right of way over pedestrians any day of the week. Pedestrians move slower and therefore can stop quickly. Not so on a bike.

How the hell do you know what the biker saw? Good job Miss Cleo.

So clearly he DID know the rules of the road and DIDN'T mess up at all.

He may have done something off camera to cause the cops to target on him, but we don't know what if anything happened.

And if it his rule breaking action was anything short of stabbing someone then he sure as hell didn't deserve a body check at full force from a meat-head cop.

You can't show your tough cop side just because you want to. The term "Unnecessary force" comes into play here and there was plenty of that displayed. He didn't deserve that

Zuki-Ron, you are officially a twat-waffle.

Make a list of all of your encounters with the Police with two columns. One column the stuff they did for you and another column of the stuff they did to you.
In my experience they are much more likely to be the problem, than solve the problem.

Pros:
- I can walk down the street in my neighborhood without being mugged
- None of my cars has ever been stolen
- None of my female relatives or friends have ever been accosted or raped
- etc
- etc
- etc

Cons:
- I got a ticket for unsafe passing on the right that I probably deserved, but the cop had a patronizing attitude that pissed me off.

Wow, you guys are pretty shortsighted. Cops are so vital to our personal safety, they put themselves at risk every time they put on their uniform. Thanks to the proliferation of YouTube and camera phones, they are constantly being second-guessed by Internet pundits who are more than happy to base their opinions of a potentially complex situation on a 6 second low-res video clip from teh Intarweb. This of course can result in officers being afraid take any action, lest they make the wrong decision and someone catch it on video. Resulting again in a deterioration of the safety of law-abiding citizens.

I have a great deal of respect for the Police, and I admit, I am going to go out of my way to give a Police officer the benefit of the doubt, regardless of the situation.

My $.02.
