White Jeep Build

Soon I hope, the jeep was down for quite a while getting upgraded. I'm still giving it the shakedown and it has been doing good. I'm heading up today for a bit to see how it does. The half doors are on and I like them although it can be a tad bit chilly on these days. I did get snowed on hard the other day and managed to still stay comfortable. It's not much of a road machine unless it was maybe a Road Warrior contest.

Awesome man I can't wait to see it

I didn't want all this on the battery so a buss fuse panel went in

So I put 5 gals in the tank after install

Idled for a while
Drove 12mins to the gas station

The jeep was on E and shuddered in one of the left hand turns I had made.

Filled up and got

so close to 25-26 gallons capacity? that makes me want to do this.

23 gallon maybe a bit more

yeah but he put 5 gallons in, a short drive, then 21 gallons - 26 gallons. Suppose he used a gallon idling and on the 10 minutes drive, so say 25. Kinda like how the XJ 18gallon tank can hold more ? 25 would be awesome.

Installed my high idle switch today

I have the hand throttle, I love it but the few seconds it takes to set it to 1,000ish RPMs was making me upset

So here we are

First I installed this switch because it had no LED lights and being that I was switching a ground there was no real good way of making one work without adding a lot of wire and a relay. I also didn't want a steel toggle switch and I wanted the switch in this location being that's it's part of the jeep it's self not something aftermarket that I bolted on.

After doing the throw part of the switch will not clear the trim.

So here is another switch that I had.
Fits in the same hole.

Here it is all in

This little guy showed up last week.

I went ahead and got the full deal, built and powdercoated with sway bar mounts.

Like in the install sheet, smash the little tin flap. Flat-ish.

Ran in to an issue, the stock crossmember was running in to the steering brace. This was no big deal. No two jeeps are build the same and I was expecting this.

Also the face of the crossmember needed a trim

Again no big deal.

So the brace it self uses the stock swaybar holes and 2 add on holes on the flat part of the "frame"

That requires you to remove the bumper, my bumper is not fun to remove. So I skipped that step and used a floor jack to push up the brace after installing the pillow bushing to make sure everything was lined up. Tighten the bolts on the frame then welded the front and side of the brace to the jeep.

I did it so I can cut it off if needed down the road.

Now just a little touch up paint and I'll be taking her for a spin.

Got my hatch light installed

Ran it to a hot wire and a switch. I didn't want it to turn on with my dome light. I have my back seat down 99% of the time and would kill me everyone it came on in the dark.

Great project so far! It's really coming together nicely.

I'm planning on stealing your ZJ gas tank idea for certain! Any specific years to hunt for?
