Wheelin May 31st

i guess.... do you bring diff fluid and rtv then too? i guess it gets you home haha.

i didn't plan to run the second one. there's a 5 foot vertical wall to climb at one point.... i think that might be the first picture.

haha guess we'll need to prove that theory!

seriously though if you guys think its too extreme then I'll just go along for the ride on the second trail.

Hi guys.
I don't check in here too much.
Myself and another NAXJA guy are appointed Project Managers for this trail, #2, so please hear me out.

I have done this trail on 31s and 32s and 33s. For the club I'm in, where I am the Trails Director, I have changed our club's requirements to 33s and one locker or winch this year. This trail sees a lot of use, some of it's legality is questionable.

If you go and need to use any go arounds, please consider these your best choices for best practice:

1. Choose a line and use a strap to get over it.
2. Park where your vehicle cannot make it and lock it up.

Using any go arounds on the left as you head in MIGHT be trespassing. At the very least, it is trail braiding which makes people HATE 4x4s.

My recommendation is 33s and one locker or a winch. Go pedal is the wrong answer when you're using someone's property. I can crawl the entire trail and not leave a mark - you should, too.

If this very popular trail gets closed, 'go pedal' and 'trail braiding' and 'traffic' will be the cause.

Also, myself and partner strongly recommend:
1. Move off the parking area and up past the first obstacle to air down. Local police dislike the traffic and people in the street or loitering on the edge of the street.
2. Save the first obstacle for last (NOT LIKE YOU'RE DOING IT ON 31S!!).
3. Have a winch equipped vehicle ready at the top of the first obstacle if anyone is playing around on it.

I do not mean any disrespect and hope you guys enjoy your ride safely and responsibly.

Please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] with Trail #2 in the subject line.

good suggestions Mike. i know Billy is aware of the current land-use issues in this area and he is capable of leading a run. this is NOT a NAXJA-sponsored run but we do allow our members to organize "loose runs" that give us continued activity and exposure. i'm re-thinking my equipment recommendations for that trail as well. 31s with proper spotting and some confidence behind the wheel will get thru with minimal "go pedal".. it is private land that needs to be respected and EVERYONE has a responsibility to take care of it for future continued use..

this sounds exactly like i have had it described to me by multiple others, though i've never been there. i think more than a few people will be doing ridealongs for this one, almost definitely including myself.

"Yesterday's renegade, is today’s member, and is tomorrow's leader."

Guys, thanks for the input and feedback! I'm definitely on your side and I WANT you to be able to enjoy the trail for years to come. That is why I interjected, because I WANT you to have fun.

So who actually will be able to ride the second trail? It seems like everyone (including myself) are only equiped/willing to do a ride along!

its funny because i was a renegade before i started doing land use too. its tough not getting emotionally involved when you see one trail after another close, no matter how hard you work to make ammends with the towns and landowners. i dont want to kill anyone's good time either.. i just want to make sure there is some good time left for our kids to enjoy too. it'd be selfish to behave ourselves otherwise.

:soapbox:

I just dont want people assuming without even meeting me that i will in some way lead people up illegal bypasses and destroy trails. I haven't been doing this as long as some of you, but think i do have some idea whats going on. Also i'd like people to confront me privately instead of going to other members and friends in underground to find out my intentions. RANT OVER. Lets go wheelin

by no means am i in charge of this, but i think it's a good idea for everyone to post up doing both or just the first. on that note, i can't do the 2nd

I'm definitely doing the first, but if most of the obstacles are impossible for me on the 2nd run then I won't be able to do it. If I need to get pulled up a few thats fine by me.

I plan on doing the first trail. If someone will have an open seat for me and my friend we will definetly tag along for the second trail. I will try to remember to bring a camera.
