WF09 To-do lists

In the front yard? LOL!
I'll check the shed 'cause I think I have one last passenger side shaft left. If I do I'll let you know and you can have it.

Getting closer to being ready. Going to service the tow rig tonight and going to try and pick up the Fat Tire while I am in town this weekend. Gonna have to get an extra case since it will be a 2 week hold over until WF :D

Hope to have the long arms finished up by mid next week due to being gone this weekend. Only time will tell, but they WILL be on by WF :thumbup:

 
2 weeks and counting:

Still need a spare tire and a front tow point, which I'm planning to buy at WF (hopefully those sellers don't bail and leave me hanging :)).
Need to buy a winch to attach to the front receiver once it's installed.
Need to replace my steering box again, since I put in one of the janky autozone ones and the steering feel is too "light" now.
Need to cut a new rear wooden bumper (yea that's right) due to a mishap at the Badlands a couple weeks ago.
Need to attach CB antenna and flag to said bumper.
Need to install the Dana 44 I just bought.
Need to buy a truck and car hauler so I don't have to worry about breaking anything (if I sell my car this could happen, not likely though).

The reality will be: a hastily thrown together Badlands trip where I bring a sleeping bag, a boatload of cash and forget my space heater, spare parts and half of my tools. I'll be much more prepared for my 2nd WF!

You guys that swap axles, fab cages, change suspensions, etc. in a matter of weeks: where do you get your free time and can I have some?

I am not gonna bail on ya, I am pretty trustworthy when it comes to parts dealing, ask around, I am an "OK" kinda guy, sometimes :D ) I have your spare and rim already mounted up and in the "going to WF stack". As far as spare time, it is the thing I dont have, but I do have a nice new shop that is 100' from my back door, so when I do find some spare time everything is right there and usually ready to go. But I do find myself side tracked quite often with the nacho cheese machine calling my name :D :cheers:

Yea I'm not really worried about anyone bailing, especially you with how many parts you are bringing for other people.

I'm jealous of your shop! I have a 20' x 20' garage and it's usually the trail rig sitting in the middle of it while the other vehicles get to sit outside. I think the neighbors prefer not having to look at it, though. Decide if you're bringing the nacho machine? Nachos + beer = win, but I think that's been said before.
 
oh yes, the nacho machine will be there. I am borrowing a power invertor for the Tahoe so that I can have the machine plugged in on the drive out!

I also have a yellow colored cape that I wear and call myself "Cheeseman"

Now I know how to find you and get my spare tire. Everyone should have a unique feature so us noobies can track people down. I'll be the guy with wood 4x4s bolted to his Heep :)

Do you use your Tahoe to tow your Jeep then? I have been looking at selling my ZJ and Firebird to buy either a Tahoe/Yukon or a 1/2 ton pickup. Does it do pretty well towing that weight (guessing 5-6k lbs)? Do you have electric brakes on the trailer?

With my small garage a Tahoe is about the only full-size I can reasonably fit inside of it.
 
We use our Tahoe to haul all kinds of stuff. I have a 18' car trailer that I pull the Heep on and load it with spare tires and tools etc and it pulls it great. We have the 5.3 V8 in it and it has performed flawlessly (so far). I have had it 3 years and put over 130K on it. We have a 19" Baja boat and we have pulled it to Arkansas many times through the mini-mountains and hills w/o any problems and it has plenty of power as well. My car tailer has electric brake, which in my opinion is a must when towing with a short wheelbase tow vehicle. The boat trailer has surge brakes as well.

As far as a unique feature to find me, I would say that it is my glasses, they are plastic black frames that 9 out of 10 people would never buy. My Tahoe is white and the Heep is goldishtanishcrapish colored and I am ruinning some 35" Claws. Slim chance I might be driving one of my farm trucks and it is a white Ford F250 longbed (that looks like a farm truck :D)

Thanks for the info on your Tahoe. I can read reviews all day but there is something comforting about a person saying "I'm doing exactly what you want to do and it works fine." I think I have a buyer lined up for my Firebird and I have my eye on a trailer in town so I might be hooked up before WF!

I will look for you at WF, hopefully once I know a few people, they will know other people and eventually I'll find all the people I owe money!
 
installed my new Rough Country shocks this morning.

Went to the pick and pull this morning. Snowed four inches while I was there. I got most of what I needed:

One passenger and two driver side axleshafts with hubs all from 97 and newer.
Two rotors.
Fan from a 98
Starter
Alternator

Now to install items this afternoon.:yelclap:
