Weekend is over...what did you get done?

I left a review in the vendors forum. Now I can work on my XJ tomorrow and get some stuff fixed before my sons birthday ride. Woot woot!!

I was looking at my calendar trying to find a good day as well. Let me know if you come over my way, I'll try to get out.
I don't have any weekend days off this month. Just a friday in two or three weeks. I might try and go do some FS roads in north GA or go to Chocco if they'll open early for me and if I can find someone else to go.

Its so worth it. Ive owned my trailer longer than ive owned any vehicle.

It looks like a decent deal on CL. Needs some work, but I think it'll work out well. Looks like it'll sit for a while until I can go wheel.

Pulled more of my dash apart trying to the elusive vacuum leak that makes my AC flip to defrost and started planning a family camping trip to NGA in November. Camping season is almost here!

Let me know what you find on that leak. Then come fix mine...:-)

I broke the turn signal cam in the column on my CJ5 so I fixed that. I had to pull the radiator also to have anew filler neck installed so I dropped it off today.

I also bought the taillight circuit boards for my dodge as the 'lamp out' light and the DING DING DING finally drove me batty enough to justify the $30.

I drove the MJ the 2 miles to walgreens to pick up my son's rx...of course got deathwobble along the way so now I'm jonesin even more the replace the bent spring from the crawl and put in shorter shackles on the front.

Let's see...oh yeah...we got rid of our mini horses so I've been shrinking down our pastures and putting up new fencing for our dogs (gives us more yard and gives the dogs more fenced area to run and poop in)...I have all the new fence up and removed ~ 50' or so of old. Now mind you the 'old' fence had been built to withstand pigs as well (we had potbellies) so it's a chore tearing that out!

Now I need another weekend to recoop and then to come into some money so I can fix up the MJ to ready it for the crawl again, and get the rover running, and get the '63 CJ running, and aww crap...too much to list.

Fixed the ZJ. It has a factory overhead console, working AC, and keyless entry....I'm not sure what to do with all this fancy stuff haha. I'll be DDing it as soon as it has insurance and a tag on it, which should be in a couple days. Now to track down 4.2 parts for the XJ's stroker....

Had some issues with my D&C cage install this past weekend. It appears that the front spreaders were incorrect; at least the kit doesn't fit the way the instructions say they should, so after swapping a few emails with Eric and showing him some pics of what I have going on, we both feel like I may have gotten a set of front spreaders meant for a two door. He's sending me a new set free of charge and they should be here tomorrow. Now THAT'S customer service!

So while I had the Jeep in the shop I finally decided to install the hood vents I bought this past spring. They came off of a Datsun 720 pickup truck. From the factory they're pretty much fake vents, save for a small oval section. I opened up the slots with an end mill to make them fully functional.

I'm not sure if I'm happy with the way they look, to be honest. I think they look a little on the small side. I know I'm not happy with the silver screws holding them on, but the mounting studs broke off the backs when I was removing them so I did what I had to do to make them work. I guess I'll wait to see how well they work before making any other plans. Lord knows this thing isn't gonna win any beauty contests anyway lol

Looks good Mike. I'm with Lowrange....I've got some hood vents that need to be installed too.

Mike I have Z car hood vents. The studs mostly broke off when I removed them. So when I made my holes I made some tabs on the hood and bent them down. Put a self tapper through the "tab" into the lower side of the vent. Worked great and you don't see any screws.

I wanted to go that route but there was only 1 or 2 places where the studs didn't break off flush with the vent. This only left enough room for 1, maybe 2 threads to catch so my only other choice was to go from the top down. Otherwise the screws would've poked through. Beside that point, I'm lazy too :pirate1:

Get black screws......

Did a little maintenance on the ZJ. Serviced the transmission, but I believe it's leaking from the front pump seal :hang: Also cleaned the throttle body and IAC, idles much smoother than it did, throttle response is a little better too. It has some weird misfire going on too, but it only happens when I go across bumps a certain way or when I'm decently hard into the throttle for more than 10 seconds or so. My roommate suggests that the intake manifold may have oil deposits from the PCV system that are splashing up into the combustion chamber, causing it to misfire. Has no CEL (unless the bulb is burnt out, will check at work tomorrow). It also hops outta overdrive when it misfires, no idea what's going on. I have access to a 99+ intake that I may clean up and throw on it when I get the chance and see if that helps it out. Any other ideas on what it could be?

Oh man, I've seen enough of pulling ZJ transmissions out for one lifetime. Once with Wendy's '97, and twice with her '95. But I think I can say with all confidence......I FINALLY FIXED IT!!!!! It took a lot of head scratching and some much-needed internal work by my buddy, which took care of a manufacturer defect which was so prevalent that the aftermarket makes a repair kit to fix, the overdrive unit needed rebuilding, and the pressure governor pistons needed to be replaced. I went up two turns on the line pressure adjuster, readjusted the front and rear bands and that fixed everything...except at that point it still had an unusual knack for just unlocking the torque converter and staying unlocked for long periods...which wound up being a simple bad brake light switch that was causing it.

Other than that, we spent the weekend in the Smoky Mountains...relaxing for our 16th anniversary

Found it!! The tab on the plug coming from the distributor was broken off and bouncing against the wiring below it. About 3 feet of electrical tape and 2 zip ties later, it's fixed!!!

Mike I'm not pulling that trans any time soon. I'll just keep a close eye on the fluid level, then when I have enough parts gathered to swap in a 5 speed, I'll swap a 5 speed into it. Gonna try to do an NV3500 but I'd settle for an AX15 if I had to.
