Weekend is over...what did you get done?

I tightened my track bar. Amazing what a tight track bar will do to eliminate wobbles and vibes!

YES!

Makes you feel good doesn't it?

Since you got it fixed, ready to go to WinterFest with us? We are leaving tomorrow after work.

What engine does it have in it? Any plans for a SBF swap? What kinda tires you gonna put on it? Just curious, you don't see many SAS bronco 2s/rangers on the trail.

Well, actually I really haven't thought much about it. It's got a 2.9V6 in it for now. It's tickin like hell but as long as it runs then that's what will be in it. On the other hand the manual transmission is going to be the first thing to go. I'm in the process of figuring out which transmission I need to make it auto.

I just got back home with it a few minutes ago. I'm pretty happy with the axle swap. It's going to need some TLC tho. They guy has a HUGE steering ram mounted on factory steering and calls it steering assist. It's got a stupid body lift on it. That's the first thing to go. The steering shaft is so out of line that it binds up and is hard to turn... That kinda defeats the purpose of steering assist...

So, basically....

Completely rework the steering
The front end is gone off of it...
Remove the body jack
Find some el cheapo used 35s for it and cut the fenders all to hell to clear
Swap to auto transmission
those are the biggies but theres quite a few other odds and end that need to be worked on.

I want to make the wheel base a little bit longer...

finished my orientation with werner enterprises, and i'm getting in a trainer's truck in about an hour or so. i'll be on the road for the next 6-14 weeks, with no opportunity to see home or family. i'm excited to see the country and get paid for it, but at the same time i'm not sure if i can handle the homesickness....

GL! I work for a power utility company and have been on the road for 5 yrs now. After awhile you do get used to it. I have a home back in Houston and try to go back when time permits.

Didn't realize your stuff was stolen. Break into the Jeep?
Nope, it was out of my chevy truck. Had just done a nice job for 4WP the day before. Lucky for me insurance covered it, well most of it. I was able to buy two of the tools on ebay and save enough to make up the difference. Good thing cause I have a few hundred school buses to get knocked out over spring break.

more projects added to the list.... ah crap....

Andy aren't you a machinest? Just drill and tap a stock box. That is what I run and so far its worked fairly well.

I didn't even take my box apart when I drilled and tapped it. I just did the drilling and tapping upside down, all the shavings fell out not in.

The PSC box does have alot of upgraded internals over a stock box, but my stock YJ box has served great.

PSC makes great stuff!

yup i think it happened some time last year..... maybe at callalantee when i thought i broke a hub and the front stopped spinning, if so its been that way for a good solid year

Wow!

I guess that's what you call me.

I could do it I just don't have access to the machines. I can't use the ones at work for personal stuff...

Plus, I don't need assist. I've never wished I had it. (I can see why you'd want it with those 64" tall tires. lol) Seems like it would be a PITA. I just want what's in his box for the cool points! :) I probably wouldn't even put fluid in it.

Doug, repeat after me........' Bobby Longfield cryo and heatreat '........

I'm suprised it lasted as long as it did!

Eh... I don't think that's a must for Doug's rig, he doesn't have that much power or weight, and its just 37s with no heavy beadlocks. Its more likely deflection from a stock carrier that caused the problem, or (no offense Dougie) a not so great set up. Usually the cross pin should fail before the gears if everything else was right. If you got the time and an extra $55 bucks laying around the cryo stuff isn't a bad idea though, just be sure you get a perfect pattern on them when they go back in, and inspect the carrier for issues really well (check runout with a dial indicator) and you should be golden.

i think poor setup had a lot to do with it, i mean the patterns were good but the rear set up a lot tighter.... that and some deflection, next set is going in tight and worry free. youre right though, the cross pin or carrier should go first in a perfect world
