Where is that at? Looks fun!

Honestly if you thought URE was lame then the trip to Gulches would probalby be a let down for you. Don't get em wrong there are some nice places to play, and some insane hills but its small.

:-P lol, here we go.

Honestly, I have to say that I didn't care too much for Uwharrie (I guess I'm biased). It would have been better if I didn't have to fix Dads samurai everytime I turned around...

It really is small. It also doesn't help that there were 700 people there today.

I'm REALLY looking forward to the Crawl. Harlan seems to have been talked up to be WAY better than anything around here.

I go to badlands at least twice a year and Redbird twice a year. They are NOTHING Compared to Harlan. Dude, best wheeling i've ever done and I didn't even wheel anything hard, I just followed/chauffered Ed!

As for what I did this weekend, I bought this: :D

$500 and runs pretty well, its like a 4wd go kart!

Had a Samurai way back when, I think that's got the Big Block, 1600cc in it....You can wind the snot out of it...in fact I think I needed to wind it that high to get it to move! Shifted around 6000rpm all the time. Funny thing, before I put a tach in it, I was shifting at 2500 because it sounded like it was about to fly apart! I put 150k on mine before passing it on to the next care taker. How many miles on it?

I started out the weekend with the idea in mind to reduce the amount of tools that I carry on the trail. that didn't go so well as I added another 10lbs of tools to the action packer:looser:

All in all, I did reduce the amount of weight in the back of my Jeep by about 200lbs by removing my storage/tool box and switching to Action Packers and by reducing the amount and the redundancy of spare parts I was carrying.

I can also sleep in the back of the Jeep now so a tent is one less thing I would have to pack if staying overnight.

Yeah, 1600cc's of pure fury! :D The tracker itself only has 94k on it. The motor was replaced with a rebuilt one from a 94 at 79k when she bought it from her grandpa. I went and got the tune up stuff for it today so once it quits raining i'll do that.

And stump, i'm guessing 109mpg!

yup, I was amazed at the amount of mechanical abuse the Samurai took. In 14 yrs, and 150k on it, I never broke a Suzuki part on it. And a good bit of that time was on 3" lift and 31's w/the rear locked and 4:1 low range...the last few yrs it was spring over (maybe 5-6" lift) and 32x10.50 swamps....The original Ujoints(there were 6 total including the divorced tcase) lasted over 100k (I think I changed them at 110 when they started to vibrate...)

Neither did Tyler IIRC. URE is where I go the same reason as to why you go to Gulches. It is the cheapest day wheeling I can do and be entertained. 69 miles from my shop to Eldorado Outpost. Favorite place to wheel hands down has been Tellico. Harlan and Callantee are a close second and third. Speaking of Callantee I think a trip may be needed when I get the suck down winch done.

It wasn't BAD, It just wouldn't be my first choice. Now... if I lived close to it, it would probably be different. Its kinda like coppenger cove; its not huge, and its mostly easy trail riding, but there are some hard spots here and there, and the fact that its pretty close makes it a valid option.

For you guys its probably a great place to ride.

this week-end? nothing to the jeep. but spending a lot of time in the new house cleaning, scrubbing , laying new carpet (& a patch of new linolium) down in the back room (turning it into the lil one's play room). after we actualy move in on the first of march, i'll have my "man-cave" to work on (the basement). this thing is HUGE! not quite 7 feet tall, about 6'6" at a guess (gives me 6" of head room lol). but there is a TON of junk down there that i need to get rid of. then to start on making it "comfortable for me:D .

That is exactly what I'm trying to say. Except I will add it's worth going once to check it out.
