cleaned up the ol' wagon, and drove her around town a bit, and went and played a bit on the trails behind my house.
also got a 79 kawasaki kz1000 that i'm gonna try to make into a cafe project as time and money allow. it seems to be a pretty solid ride, so i rode it to memphis and back over the labor day weekend, with no problems! it's in pretty good shape for the shape it's in, but there are still a few small things i need to do to get it tippy-top, and from there i'm gonna try to make it a bit custom, while still keeping the old charm of an antique bike. i've already raced a couple of newer crotch rockets, and it is comparable in speed, and i can still hang with my buddies in the twisties, despite 30 years of technology on their side :D

^^If you haven't found them yet.

I highly recommend an electronic ignition upgrade if it hasn't been done already-- 10 times quicker starts and MUCH smoother idle during warm-up.

Keep the clutch and throttle cables lubed (along with regular maintenance) and you'll get years of service from her-- more reliable than any bike I've seen.

If you decide to build her up, these guys will become some of your best friends:

I know I've posted pics of the ol' Kawi in here somewhere-- '79 (good year!) KZ650SR
throw a few of yours up when you get time

If you ever get rid of her, let me know. I was wanting to build another for a while now. The Top Fuel bike we ran was based on the old KZ motor.

these pics are what it looked like when i picked it up, but i've taken the fairing and the right side mirror off, and put the carbies back on and got a kick starter for it. i'm covering the seat as we speak. i'll post a couple pics when i'm done with that. i really like the bike so far, and it seems to get a little better everyday.
oh yeah, and it already has electronic iggy on it:D it does start super easy, and idles pretty good. i can kick start it with one kick when it's been sitting all night, so that's pretty doggone good for a 30 yr old bike.....

okay, so finished product, sorta........ I finally got around to installing the rest of the pieces I received on the 28th. I also installed and wired up my Hella's, had them for over two years now and were still in the box lol.
comments?? suggestions??

Looks good. I'm not in love with the sides angled up like that but other than that it looks great.

I wish the solenoid box mounted on my winch like that... I've got the same p.o.s. but the box is mounted on some cheesy bracket off to the side. I had to modify it to sit over the center.

x2. It turned out good.

Are you missing a piece of trim just above the grill center?

We need to do some trailriding but our baby is due any day now so.....

I like it!

You seriously need bigger tires and paint the wheels any color other than white though!!! haha.

I like it... Dig the bumper.

Kind of pre weekend... but...

Finally towed the jeep up to the shop to look it over, no spark, not getting fuel. After checking everything, determine my ECU is fried. Buy a battery and ECU from NAPA, pricetag was far from cheap, but pulled the NAPA employee pricing on both.

Still can't figure out why the guages aren't working, don't feel like replacing the cluster.

Should have her on the trails this weekend if all goes well.

White spoke wheels rock. They scream "old school".

Craftsmanship on the bumper is amazing. It is very well built.

Yeah, I am waiting till the buckshots wear out before I go bigger. Once I do, I am going to at least go with the 34" LTB's.
I still love the white wheels, but my wife is telling me my next investment should be beadlocks, so they might be changing colors soon enough, lol!
