Weekend is over...what did you get done?

I had literally just moved to clemmons for this job, now Ive lost it. My father works at the same company, except he is a full time/permanent employee, hes pretty pissed because he had asked HR if I was at risk and they said I was not. Just really shitty how it went down. I know they laid off a good 20-30 folks, but I just wasn't expecting to be one of them.

Which company? My folks live in Clemmons...i'm up that way a lot. If you don't feel like putting their name on a forum, PM me.

lol, I've got several of those stickers myself. UF, SEC, and NAXJA stickers.

Yeah I took off a JKS one and another TI one that were cracking away. Also had one of the HUGE SEC ones on there...downgraded to a smaller one. Added the OIB and CB ones.

found out today that my entire weekend was spent with a bacterial infection similar to strep throat. doctor even said "i don't know how you tested negative with all of the signs and symptoms of strep"

steroid shot and antibiotics FTW!

Got a new toy today!

Of course then I needed to build a new welding cart that will hold both welders and the plasma, 2-3 tanks of gas, and all of the other consumables. I still haven't finished it, but it should be pretty sweet, its going to have its own power supply, so that to run any of the 3 machines you just have to plug the cart into the wall. It also has a work bench / welding table on the top to make working on smaller things easier. Eventually I would like to add a vice to it, but thats for another day when Im not so tired of spending money!

My girls ex-mother in law lives in Irmo. We make trips over there once a month or so to share the kids for a day or two... It's nice over there.

Did you pick it up yesterday?

Found my odd noise, 1 bent control arm bolt and 1 loose control arm bolt. Every thing fixed and ready to go this weekend for GMP!

Nope, having an issue getting in touch with the guy.

Got on the road about 7:15 this morning (already a few minutes late) to head to work. About 7:30 I get this:

40316_718615561857_36618587_39925860_624071_n.jpg

Pulled over on the side of the highway, shut it off and re-started it (had this issue ONCE about 4 months ago and this did the trick). Everything went back to normal. Got about half a mile more down the highway and it pegged out again. Pulled over once again, this time halfway up an exit ramp, shut it off and restarted it again and let it idle for a couple of minutes. Everything seemed fine, so I continued up the ramp and turned around on a side street to attempt to get back on the highway. Just before getting to the entrance ramp it starts to creep up again. Pulled over again, idled for a minute and began to hear feedback through my speakers from the alternator, even though the music was down. Shut it off immediately and tried to restart it, didn't want to idle. Feathered the throttle a bit, then intentionally let it stall. As it stalled the dash lit up and slowly faded away like a dimmer switch. After that I had absolutely nothing electrical...no ignition, lights, flashers...anything. Thinking my regulator took a crap, I called my buddy and had him bring his truck and trailer out thinking i'd be spending the morning doing an alternator swap. While waiting for him, I started poking around at things with the multimeter (glad I threw it in the Jeep a couple of weeks ago and kept forgetting to take it out!). Had 12V at the battery, but didn't at any of the connections (converted to marine terminals last year with brand new homemade cables all around out of 2 and 4 gauge welding cable). Took all the connections off, cleaned them as best as I could with a rag, reassembled and damn if she didn't fire right up like nothing was wrong.

About a month and a half ago or so it had a spaz where it lost all electrical while attempting to start, only that episode lasted about 30 seconds and fixed itself. Looks like this was the problem all along. Only made me 30 minutes from work but last night I worked an hour over so i'm still half an hour over for the week....little bit of a plus I guess. The rest of the day pretty much went to hell following this little incident.

Better that making you late than this... :)

Yow! That looks like a hell of a crash.

What I got done this weekend... not much sleeping, but I have a tow rig now. Full story here if you feel like reading a wall of text: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showpost.php?p=245012376&postcount=47865

Cliff notes: saw CL listing for a 5 ton army truck, offered 2500 dollars for it, realized it was 550 miles away, drove through the night friday/saturday, fixed it up a bit, bought it, got it temp registered, drove it through the night to rausch creek (arrived at 5am), woke up at 8am and wheeled it a little, drove it all day home till it broke down halfway (blew every belt off it, lost brakes and overheated badly), fixed it, drove it the rest of the way home. STILL catching up on sleep.

It is.

It did not come with that many Marines though.

Driving it - awesome, a ton of fun, I now feel like I'm driving a hotwheels car even when I'm driving the lifted rig. You would not believe the number of people who wave and take pics and stuff (including some hot chicks!)

Pictures - I don't own a camera presently. Pics from the CL listing are in the last page or so of the "what's your tow rig" thread in the tow rigs / other vehicles forum. For comparison sake, the roof of my stock MJ is about halfway up the bedsides.
